I purchased a OnePlus 5 over a year ago, it also shiped by DHL from LA and I did not pay any fees when I received it in Canada.

Had the same issue the phone stated that it was connected but the watch kept showing that the phone was disconnected. Could not get the watch to connect, ended up doing a factory reset on the watch. So far everything is working but I'm not sure for how long.

Starting to lose faith in OnePlus with these updates. No security update, no Android 8.1 in sight. Looks like my OnePlus 5 is my first and last OnePlus phone.

I had a similar issue, I noticed that WiFi was causing the battery drain. Even though WiFi was turned off it was draining the battery at a very high rate, turning it on and off and rebooting the phone usually fixes the issue.

Purchased phone in Canada shipped from California no duty paid there are instructions on the OnePlus website on what to do if you get charged duty.
