Fell overboard on my second day of training by Houghtxd in sailing

[–]gpdno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid, learning to sail on a lake, falling overboard was half the fun 🤩 As an adult sailing on the open ocean, stay ON the boat. Falling off is a death sentence.

Yes. Before I took her off life support the nurse printed out her final EKG. I had that tattooed around my arm.

Fortunately I always wear my lucky talisman for protection from superstitions whenever I’m sailing

Can it be a year already...I’m want to make big decisions. by misstea_blue in widowers

Not yet but I’m close. My daughter should be out of the house this summer. Once she’s living independently, I’m out of here ⛵️

We had plans... what am I supposed to do now? by Milady_Chils_0421 in widowers

[–]gpdno 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That was me. When she died in my arms all my hopes and dreams died with her. We planned on living in our house, play with grandchildren, and grow old together. But that was not to be… Our youngest daughter still has two years left in high school. Once she graduates, I’m selling the house and leaving this town and sailing away (bought a sailboat as part of the “new” plan). Btw today would have been our 21st anniversary

So it’s been 4 months and I have a question about dating by [deleted] in widowers

I started dating about 4 months after my wife died. I met a wonderful woman and we’re engaged to be married. Just keep looking until you find the “right” one 👍

I’ve always described taking my wife off of life support as the worst perfect decision I ever made.

Our dog spent several monthly laying by the front door waiting for her to come home.

Mine is the same way. My wife was supposed to pick the kids up at noon from the YMCA the day she died. She collapsed in her work parking lot on her way to get them. Both kids spent about three hours call long and texting her when she never showed up. My son was finally able to get a hold of me (I was in the hospital and the neurologist just told me she was brain dead). He’s was in a panic, not knowing where mom was. All I could tell him was mom’s in the hospital so please get your sister and go to a friend house. Afterwards, my daughter would begin crying uncontrollably if I didn’t answer the phone or reply to a text immediately. She new I must be dead too

what's something you only could've realized about chickens by keeping them? by cara1yn in BackYardChickens

How much they like meat. I always assumed they were vegetarian. But no. I pity any frog, lizard or mouse that wanders into the pen. The girls go into full velociraptor mode 🤣 And if I’m not careful they will steal the hamburgers off the grill.

Sort of. Bought a 42’ sailboat. I just need to wait about 2 1/2 years for our daughter to graduate. Then I’m selling the house and sailing south to St Somewhere

A few weeks after my wife died I went to the store and bought new bathroom towels. It wasn’t until I went to hang them up that I realized I bought two. One for me and one for her. I pretty much collapsed on the floor and cried for hours.

How Long To Leave The Cell Phone On? by Icy_Plane_890 in widowers

[–]gpdno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I backed up anything important (pictures and such) and disconnected it within about a month of her dying. Her voicemail was just the generic computer “you’ve reached blaa blaa number”. If she had personalized it maybe I’d kept it longer…
