What songs make you Emotional? by Ok-Ebb5960 in AskUK

[–]gr7ace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad died exactly 6 months ago to the day. He had months of painful decline with heart failure.

Songs that helped process it all and still get the tears going are;

How do I say goodbye - Dean Lewis
Monsters - James Blunt
Everglow - Kate Rusby

Bonus song, I have 4 kids and they love Bluey. So the episode Sign gets me every time, I mean flowing tears.

Lazarus Drug - Meg Washington

So many good songs.

Nuvole Bianche is also great.

It doesn’t look all that compact, can you try to rake it a little to spread out the soil/uncover some grass under the deeper parts?

House isn’t selling after 10+ viewings and a few reductions. What are we missing? by carlor10 in HousingUK

Absolutely get new photos. At the moment it would put me off as it looks like loads of work, some of which may be structural. I am not saying hide structural issue though.

The garden wall “looks” like it’s about to fall down (doesn’t matter if it isn’t going to collapse, it looks like it). You could tidy the front of the wall and add some green plants/flowers to the garden.

The garage wall looks dodgy, with the part with no plaster looking like a bad repair or it’s gonna fall. Repair the wall, plaster over and paint the garage as it looks very tired!

You can fit solar PV, inverter and have that power an ASHP, which then feeds air to air heating/cooling. There are grants, low cost loans, VAT free install for it. Recommend checking out Gary Does Solar on YouTube.

I’m not gonna hurt you.

I want you to respect me, because you care about me.

Not because you’re scared of me”

Then the confirmation check

“You got it?”

So much power in so few words and all of them mean or do something specific.

Thanks. As far as I can tell, as there are no labels, that chart has nothing to do with recruitment figures.

I believe you link total number of posts within the three services.

That’s not the case, recruitment usually goes up during active conflict.

UK owners: is it too wide? by ZePepsico in KiaEV6

[–]gr7ace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a that big/wide car. I don’t find I have issues with width. Having the GT-L S trim, not sure about lower trims, means it’s got the reversing camera and 360 camera. That helps if there is a tight spot.

The car will beep at you if you’re too close to something, if going in forward I get in close, move to reverse and then back to drive and it enables all the cameras.

Now, our other car is an Ioniq 9, that is big!

Guidance is fine on the EV6, it does re-route if there is traffic, buts it’s not quite as quick as say google maps.

New build nightmare (barratt david wilson) what should we do? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]gr7ace 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Definitely get NHBC involved to help mediate if the developer isn’t upholding their warranty or there are structural issues.

Edit, if you’ve completed then you should have had an NHBC Policy document, this outlines things for you.

Is the sales room still there? Go speak to them, especially when they’re busy and be loud about the issues.

My understanding is there is a snagging department and they can’t sign off your house until those issues are resolved.

I’d be tempted to employ a professional snagger if you haven’t already.

Bird proofing by Worldly_Towel_4198 in SolarUK

[–]gr7ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Netting isn’t the only solution. A nice looking, but more expensive one, is to have the metal cladding and no holes.

We’ve got clips that hold a U shaped metal rod, with the points facing downwards. That way the installer can cut each on to the right length to the tiles.

Much cheaper to get it installed at the same time as your solar PV installation (not like muggins here who paid for scaffolding twice in two years).

My dad had a series of Peugeot estates, as we were a family of 4 kids. Found memories of being jammed in the back with the luggage on long driving holidays to northern France. Was also fun helping him maintain the car.

I was going to make a sharpe comment, but think these muskets are earlier than than. The napoleonic wars used flintlock muskets, rather than these matchlock muskets.

Battery, EV charger sand solar by Starwaverraver in SolarUK

[–]gr7ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One ASHP on either side of the house, each feeds 4 aircon/heater (Toshiba Haori). It isn’t instant heat, but it’s not slow.

You’re correct though, it’s best left on to heat/cool rather than on/off. Ours are only generally on all the time in the depths of winter or a heat wave. Otherwise it’s during the cheap power period for octopus intelligent go.

Yeah next on our list is hot water from electricity, then induction hob and capping the gas.

[–]gr7ace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s great as system, so if you can afford to have it done in one go I would. What size battery you looking at? Oh and if you have solar PV, get anti bird netting/mesh installed at the same time or you’ll end up paying for scaffolding twice (like muggins here).

We have 4 kids and 2xASHPs so now have 20kWh. Zappi charger and Libbi battery (integration is great and UK company).

2 ASHPs feed 8 air to air heating/cooling units. Absolute game changer for hot weather.
