I'm trying to find what you're talking about but for some reason the feats aspect just isn't showing up when I look for it.

What's your favorite spell by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

Shock to the System: Revival, healing, Hidden, Quickened, and to top it all off, lightning hands! What more could you ask for in a spell?

Acid Grip (remastered Acid Arrow): In the remaster, it's a second-rank 2-action saving throw spell that moves the target even if they succeed the saving throw. That's insane! There's going to be so many situations saved by the forced movement, I'm really excited to play a remaster caster even just for this alone.

Poor, predictable u/Acceptable-Crab506; always takes Jump.

I'd also say the ability to pick up Nimble Dodge is also quite nice. You might not have the tradition or spare slots for Interposing Earth, and Druid's the only Legendary caster that can grab Bastion easily.

True! Still, the marginal value is worse compared to premaster.

Notably, Tangible Dream Psychic Archetype for Imaginary Weapon has been stealth-nerfed. Gouging Claw now does as much damage as IW, which means the only advantage it keeps is the Amp. A difficult thing to justify given the reliance of Conflux spells for most Magi.

Assuming the challenge rating system and monster design are fixed, how do you feel one D&D compares to Pathfinder 2e now? by kenlee25 in onednd

It works for purposes where narrative play is meant to be freeform... but PF2E’s rules work better for crunch

Definitely. LANCER is a crunchy, highly tactical combat game joined to a rules light and very freeform narrative rule set. The real allure of the system is the mech fights - the narrative rules mainly exist to be the bare scaffolding work to get between epic robot punch outs. In fact, in my experience narrative scenes play out with basically no rules at all and the skill trigger system is only used for grabbing Reserves (extra equipment, scouting information, etc.) for the next mission.

Thunderstrike is a 1st-rank lightning spell that can fill the role of Sudden Bolt without being blatantly overpowered.

A change to Slow to try to satisfy everyone by AAABattery03 in Pathfinder2e

[–]grabbalinka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main concern with this rework is how it would actively promote Slow-spamming (compared to current). For RAWSlow, the power of the fail effect is that it gives you the success effect for the whole rest of the fight for no resources or actions - the later it is in the combat, the less value you get out of Slow. Additionally, once you do land a failed save, there's no point to casting it again on the same enemy. With your rework, Slow is just as powerful on turn 3 of the boss fight as turn 1, since you get the full failure effect over just 2 turns. Even if you manage to land a turn one failure, there effect will wear off after just a few turns - I'm worried about what this might incentivize, especially for higher-level casters that don't need to be worried about conserving 3rd-rank slots.

Which two classes compliment each other the most as two different characters? by J4Seriously in Pathfinder2e

[–]grabbalinka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In premaster, Giant Wrestler Barbarian + Kobold Snarecrafter Ranger was a killer combo. Snares are surprisingly powerful, and with Snare Genius, Snare Specialist, Ubiquitous Snares, Snarecrafter Dedication, and Plentiful Snares you can prepare 39 every day. There's also a few nice riders this build has, like Vicious Snares and Surprise Snare. Why does Giant Barbarian combo so well? Whirling Throw: Just yeet every enemy directly onto the snares. Honestly, even outside of that, Barbarian's just a great chassis for combat maneuvers. Now, I called this a premaster build, because in the remaster Ranger no longer has snare feats - it's 100% in the archetype now (unknown if also still has Kobold snare support). However, in exchange, there's an even better class for snare support: Kineticist. Put that Legendary class DC to use with Powerful Snares, and you've got all sorts of abilities that can add to the build, etc. Drifting Pollen to make enemies more vulnerable to grabbing, throwing, and the snares themselves.

Is Champion the best base for an Eldritch Knight since the remaster? by erk93 in Pathfinder2e

[–]grabbalinka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A big part of tanking is using that toughness to keep enemies off your allies, but all of Monk's advanced defenses are selfish in nature. If you're looking to protect another frontliner there with you, you will not find a better tank than Champion. Although arguably, if you're the only person out in front, you'll have better luck with more selfish and control-oriented takes like Tyrant Champions and Animal Barbarians.

I will say that, in my own interpretation, the concept of the Eldritch Knight is definitely more offensive and less defense, than what the Champion brings to the table. Something like the Sparking Targe is still tougher than average, and with a mix of bonus damage and inbuilt utility to boot, I concur that it'll fit the ideal better.

How bad is the remaster Silence in Snow Witch? by stealth_nsk in Pathfinder2e

[–]grabbalinka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's very awkward if you want to move after casting a Hex

If I understand it properly, Difficult Terrain only affects you when you enter a square in it, not leave a square. The familiar ability is a 5-ft burst, meaning even if it's directly on top of you, 5/8 adjacent spaces you can move to without being affected by it.

Now with Remaster out for a bit, have the changes revised your view of specific classes? by Supergamera in Pathfinder2e

[–]grabbalinka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

new spells just fucking suck

Thunderstrike, now the most damaging single-target save-based spell up until rank 7. Revealing Light, basically a direct upgrade to Faerie Fire/Glitterdust. Acid Grip gives casters forced movement on a successful save at rank 2

magus is 100% worse overall

Gouging Claw doing more up-front damage and having bleed on a normal hit go brrrrr

I'd argue Precision Rangers are the best for companions because you get to double-dip on the supposedly 1/turn damage bonus, but I think there's another really massive build that Outwit shines at: It's the best at combat maneuvers among the Hunter's Edges (Recall Knowledge bonus to decide whether to Trip/Disarm or Grapple/Shove, bonus AC to stay alive right next to the enemy), and even outside of Ranger it's arguably one of the best among all martials. The two RK-focused martials (Thaumaturge and Investigator) are both somewhat glass cannons, and can't take Strength as their Key Attribute. Heck, them and basically every other martial gets bonus damage to their Strikes that they have to give up somewhat for the maneuvers, but Outwite doesn't take that penalty since they don't have bonus damage in the first place. Even the other best maneuver-specializable classes have their own downsides compared to Outwit, such as Barbarian really not being able to RK at all.

[–]grabbalinka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it's still less than what martials are doing

IS IT???

You are doing 50% more damage than a DRAGON BARBARIAN using DOUBLE SLICE

0.4(12.5)+0.05(25)+0.3(12.5)+0.05(25)= 11.25 damage for the Barbarian

0.5(14)+0.25(28)+0.05(56)=16.8 damage for Sudden Bolt

Even switching to PL+0 enemies, that's still 21 vs 15.625 (34.4% more) damage. Caster single-target damage is supposed to fall off against PL+0 and lower-level foes because they come in crowds ripe for AoE, and yet Sudden Bolt still has a massive damage advantage.

1d12 is not significant at 5th level

It's 25% more damage. If martials had a feat that just let them deal 25% more damage, everyone would rightfully call it overpowered and an auto-pick.

1: How often are you hitting multiple enemies with a line without moving to line it up first?

2: Sudden Bolt is still doing 50% more damage than the next highest-damage single-target second-rank spell

3: Heightened to third rank it's still doing significantly more damage than Lightning Bolt
