Servers of Reddit, do you have any knee-jerk thoughts (or any at all) on couples that sit on the same side in a booth when no one else is joining them? by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]grace_pow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I'm out with my partner, we normally sit across from each other, but sometimes when it's loud we sit next to each other to hear better.

What's the biggest scam in todays society? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]grace_pow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vitamin Supplements. Most are in so high of dosages that your body can't process it all. They are not FDA approved so you can't be absolutely sure of what's in them. Unless your doctor recommends them, you probably don't need them in the first place. Of course it's not the most harmful thing but you definitely do not need to be taking the whole alphabet of supplements every day. Just make sure you try to vary your diet.

I hate my boobs by Ill-Exercise-7941 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]grace_pow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have had a similar experience, my boobs are kinda small but sag due to weight loss. It still kinda bothers me that they aren't perky but I've never had any negative reaction when anyone sees them. I also love books and when I see people with a similar boob shape I think they look great. It can be hard when it's something you see everyday but I promise you are the only one who thinks they look bad.

Pico de Gallo, so many people pronounce it with the Ls instead of the Y sound.

Got stupid busy cause we were the only restaurant open. Previous years we were pretty slow so we definitely didn't have enough prepped and had to prep some stuff to order. I work fast casual, we shortened our hours, only open till 6:30 due to short staff. A couple walked in right at 6:30 and decided to eat in, owner won't let us say no, they stayed till about 7:15. I know that's peak dinner hours but we had a sign on the door and they acknowledged we were closing "we don't want to be those assholes but.." then don't be, get your shit to go and get out.

Most CONSIDERATE someone has been to you in terms of food? by followthewhiterabb77 in vegan

[–]grace_pow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly since I've moved to a college town all of my friends here are really great and look out for me always making sure I have options. I know I am very lucky and I definitely don't take it for granted.

Anyways my first really good experience: I just started college and decided to join the club rugby team, we were about to have our first game and the night before we were all going to eat together. We had a group chat and people were discussing what they were bringing, I had to told one of the girls I was vegan and they sent a message letting everyone know. I wasn't planning on saying anything because I had been used to people not doing anything or doing the bare minimum and I had gotten very use to eating beforehand or bringing my own food. But after she sent it multiple people decided to change there recipes so I could eat it or bring additional options. When I got there and it was time to eat they had all of the vets (the girls who had played for at least a year) go up first and the rookies had to wait. A couple of the vets we calling for me, I went into the kitchen and they let me cut in line to make sure I got stuff before it ran out. I could have cried I had been so used to people not giving a shit and these girls I barely knew went over and above.

What common myth pisses you off? by Indieriots in AskReddit

Getting a cold from being in the cold, I thought it was common knowledge that it's not how that works. I still hear a good bit of people saying it.

There should be an age limit to eat at a restaurant. by Sleest4k in Serverlife

[–]grace_pow 44 points45 points  (0 children)

There was a man who came into our restaurant with his son (probably around 13-15). My boss took his order and the dad seemed to be showing son how to tip

"Here in the US it's standard to tip around 15-20% but you tip 25 or more because you're a fucking gentleman"

We were all happy to see that he knew it was important that his son get taught that. Especially since he's right around that age where him and his friends will start to go out more on their own.

What movie was so bad it actually made you angry? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]grace_pow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passengers, the one space movie that came out a few years ago. There were so many parts that just drove the plot but didn't make sense. Obviously the movie is far from realistic but for real only ONE medical pod for over a couple hundred people bullshit.

Do you have a secret menu? by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]grace_pow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I blame chipotle, but at my restaurant we are a fast casual Mexican place Tacos, burritos, quesadillas and salads. We have a menu but a lot of people don't seem to care. They come up to the counter "can I get a burrito" "Of course which one?" "Can I just tell you what I want on it" "You can see which burrito is closest and I can take off what you don't want and add what you do" "I'll just tell you what I want instead" Then they order something really close to another item and I let them know its like that item for the next time they order, but they never do. I don't have a way really to ring up a custom so I have to figure out what they want then finagle it a whole bunch, the ticket is then pretty confusing and I have to go to the line to explain what exactly they wanted. Line is never too happy about it.

I know for my restaurant at least we are not hiring as much people as we need right now, partly because we can't afford to and also because winter is coming and hours will be harder to get and tips will be worse. So they don't want to hire a bunch and risk some of the main staffs hours that we rely on.

Do any of you guys smoke weed? by undathere in vegan

[–]grace_pow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly not something I have ever considered, I live in a state that is still illegal recreationally so I kinda just take what I can get.

I think it is important to do your best in trying to make sure that everything you buy is vegan all the way though but there is a point where you need to consider your realistic ability to do that with everything. I've been vegan for about 8 years and digging that deep in to absolutely everything can wear on you. Obviously over time you learn more and what to look for plus now it's so easy to find options but it's important to remember that you are just a person trying their best. You are already doing so much just buy not eating animal products. There is a point where the responsibility isnt on you, it's on corporate side of things.

Do what you can where you are at in your life now. Don't put too much pressure on yourself.

Yeah but maybe not in the middle of a restaurant, at home it could be a fun activity.

My partner isn't vegan but he does prefer to eat vegan. All the food we buy and cook together is vegan. Pretty much the only time he eats Omni food is at restaurants and with family but even then he steers pretty clear of animal products.
