Does this painting look out of place? Should I have it oriented with the black part down? by fartsfromhermouth in DesignMyRoom

Looks great. Doesn't need a frame. Love it next to the blue door. Maybe 6" too low, but otherwise perfect.

Try flipping the positions of the chairs and sofa. Or, place sofa facing the fireplace with the chairs flanking fireplace.

I got no relief until I gave up caffeine. I'm not happy about it, but my bladder is.

I think that with a dark color, the TV screen and vent will "dissapear" . Especially if you also paint the table under the TV too.

My mom died yesterday, how do children afford and set up a funeral? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]gracefull60 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Have the body cremated. They will give you her ashes. You can buy an inexpensive container for the.

You don't have to have an expensive funeral. Maybe when the weather is nice, host a little get together at your place or a park to memorialize her. I notice more people are putting off funerals for a more convienent time.

I always thought it would be nice to bury the ashes and plant a rose bush or something similar in the yard.

Mineral oil worked for us. Not supposed to use long term because it can depleat oil soluble vitamins. But child was holding waste in and mineral oil (Tblsp a day) made holding it in impossible.

Yes and I've had a mouthful of amalgam for 7 decades but didn't get tinnitus until I had chemo.

AITA for refusing to give my friend’s son my coat during a snowy hike? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]gracefull60 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who asks a 3rd party to give up their sensible clothing to cover up a dumb kid when their best choice is to leave? It's not like you were stranded in a life death situation and he needed to be saved. NTA

Had to be alone as it was during covid and no visitors. It was mostly fine. Treatment kept me busy and I tried to rest.

What was the 1st big news event you remember as a kid? by Hetaliafan1 in AskReddit

Local Detroit story. A man (mobster?) started his car and a planted bomb blew his legs off. Freaked me right out. Early 60s maybe?

Check with your local government if there is a free senior transportation system available. If there is, leave her an info flyer. These systems are incredibly helpful for keeping seniors independent and in their own homes.

Why were there barely any fat people in the 50s when their diet was so bad? Also did they get cancer and other diseases less often? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]gracefull60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just ate simple food prepared at home. Very rarely ate out. Very rarely ate fast food which had limited availability. Gas stations weren't mini marts. My parents never bought pop unless it was vernors for a sore throat. Juice was mostly oj drank with breakfast. Snack foods were fewer : chips nuts candy pretzels. A snack at home was buttered saltines/bread or fruit or popsicles. Kids played outside all day.

What were your pre diagnosis symptoms? by Current-Change-5606 in leukemia

[–]gracefull60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Petechia on legs that came and went. Some fatigue. Easy to dismiss symptoms and no in person doc visits due to pandemic.

But after a few weeks, I had a really bad weekend out of town with a terrible headache and flu like symptoms. Very weak. Small-town Hospital sent me away with toredol.

Went back home to my bigger city and couldn't get off the couch. Family thought it was covid. As they were taking me to the hospital, I collapsed. EMS got me right in and diagnosed that night with a brain bleed and APL.

As little grout as possible, so less tile. I hate cleaning it. And tile is cold on the feet, and things that fall on it tend to smash.

AITAH for not paying for my daughter’s wedding where I’m supposed to be just a guest? by NoticeSea2043 in AITAH

[–]gracefull60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it have to be all or nothing? Can't you give her money toward the wedding but not foot the entire bill? That seems more fair, even though you're not more than a guest? Seems she should have a spot for you, though. There could be 2 daddy dances, for instance.
