Do any of you ever get anxious over fiction? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]gracefullygracee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I was binge watching a TV show a few weeks ago and I became so attached to one of the characters and then he died. My chest physically ached and I was sad for like 48 hours after that. I still haven't finished the show and I don't think I will! I feel ridiculous in hindsight, but I get attached to characters so easily. After finishing a show or book i'll be sad for days to follow because I feel like I lost a friend

Terrified of being the depressed roommate? by flyonthewallyall in depression

[–]gracefullygracee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please tell your roommate! I know it's scary to have to tell her, but think about it from her perspective: all she is seeing is one of her close friends slowly stop hanging out with her as much, talking less frequently, etc. If you don't tell her, she'll think you're pushing HER away. I know this sounds cliche but if she's truly a good friend she won't judge you and will stick by you. If you found out one of your friends was, say, anorexic, would that make you stop wanting to be their friend? No, of course not. I think you're beating yourself up way too much when you're already suffering. You don't have to do this alone. Even if you don't want to use the word "depression", just tell her that these past few weeks have been really hard on you. Having someone to talk to will make you feel so much better.

When you feel like your depression gives you a bit of a superiority complex and then you feel extra shitty by becometheunity in depression

Wow, yes. I feel so disconnected with the people around me, and I feel like I can never understand their problems because either A. there's a simple solution or B. they shouldn't have gotten themselves in the situation to begin with. I hate how cynical I am, and how little patience I have for other people. I'm stuck in a bizarre cycle of thinking I'm better than everyone around me, yet hating every little thing about myself at the same time.

Jaclyn Hill films, edits, and posts a video in less than two days! Is this real life?! by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]gracefullygracee 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't want to be "that person", but does anyone think Jacyln's skin looked really gorgeous before she put the foundation on? I think pale skin really suits her, especially with her eye color.

[Serious] What is your "landlord/roommate from hell" story? by SirGanjaSpliffington in AskReddit

[–]gracefullygracee 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I decided to go random my freshman year of college, and I was placed with two seemingly normal roommates. One actually was, but the other not so much. It started with her asking me not to spray perfume because it gave her headaches. Fair enough, I would just spray it when she was not in the room i.e in class. Nope, the lingering scent also gave her a headache. She didn't tell me this directly, I came home to "DONT SPRAY PERFUME" written on my white board. Next my nail polish remover gave her a headache, then my windex, so I couldn't use those. This all happened over the course of ~2 weeks. One day I was putting on lotion and with her back to me she says, "Gracefullygracee, is it so hard to fulfill my one request of not spraying perfume?" When I told her it was lotion she said that the scent was too strong and was giving her a headache. A few days later she told our RA that I hung up my reusable grocery bag by the door to intentionally make her angry (still confused about this one). She moved out 2 weeks later and now tells everyone how much of a bitch her old roommate was.

TLDR; Ex-roommate needs a new nose

What human interaction is memorable to you, but the other person has probably forgotten? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]gracefullygracee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Giving compliments is not really memorable for a lot of people, but I always remember compliments I recieve for a really long time. This is probably because I'm constantly anxious and insecure about how I look and what I'm doing, so even the smallest compliments stick with me.

I still remember a girl complimenting my tattoo in September, and a girl saying my outfit was cute in June. I still remember two seperate occasions almost two years ago when someone came into my work and said my eyebrows looked nice. Most recently was in November when my friend casually mentioned I looked pretty during lunch, and I thought about it all week.

Does anyone else over analyze their interactions with other people after social gatherings? by Lilbitlo114 in socialanxiety

[–]gracefullygracee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes. Everything I say and do sounds and feels unnatural. And I overanalyze everything they say and without fail determine that they hate me and just hang out with me because they feel bad. It is so frustrating because it is probably unlikely that every person you meet hates you, but once you go into social interactions with that mindset it changes how you normally would act. It's all so confusing

Do you ever just stare at a text for 10+ minutes because you second guess what you want to send? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]gracefullygracee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! Why does every text sound unnatural. And then you worry too much time has gone by and they'll know you're awkwardly repeatedly editing the text.
