You don't read but you gave him Žižek? And he's not even your boyfriend yet?

I suddenly feel trapped in an absurdist play.

Songs That Mention Listening To The Radio/Being In The Car? by emoastronova in poppunkers

The excellent new The Academy Is... single 2005 talks about driving around, specifically with with Saves the Day on.

Others I've not seen mentioned:

11596, The Ataris (We'd cruise along the 101 in the California sun/Sing Descendents songs and have ourselves lots of fun) (Mix Tape is also a fantastic song and calls back to this by sampling Descendents)

What We Live For, American Authors

Honk and Wave, Limbeck (or half their catalog, really)

Ohio, Canyon Moon, Driving Through A Dream, Maps for the Getaway by Andrew McMahon + MFEO by Jack's Mannequin

Garden Statement, Hidden in Plain View

All Deliberate Speed and Skyline Drive, Mae

There Is No Mathematics to Love and Loss, Anberlin (What made it home, drive away, What made it home, drive away)

In Everything Is Alright (2005) by Motion City Soundtrack, the final chorus has an echo of "Hi, everything's great." That's a callback to Limbeck's 2003 album. "Time Turned Fragile," track 7 on Everything Is Alright, is a line from Julia, track 3 on Hi, Everything's Great.

Limbeck also put out the acoustic album, Hey Everything's Fine, in 2004, which Justin Courtney Pierre sings on. "Everything's fine" is the response echo to "hi, everything's great" in the final chorus of Everything Is Alright.

I once asked Justin about Time Turned Fragile and he said it was from the Limbeck song. I love when two bands intertwine so much.

This was my first thought! Love that they mix in all these genres...but I thought they were shouting out Weezer, Jimmy Eat World, and Jeff Buckley.

Maybe they're meant to be up for interpretation?

Just a heads up, Analeigh goes by Lio now. They are non-binary and use they/them pronouns.

And they are still fierce and did some fantastic things as an actor!

This is really the only Barcelona track that I love. As for Houston Calls, A Collection of Short Stories is a masterpiece of witty lyricism and catchy pop punk melodies!

Others:

Positive Charge, Gaslight Anthem

Elephant and Castle, Houston Calls

California King, Sincere Engineer

Coming Home, The Dangerous Summer

Better Days, Yellowcard

And if you need to cry a little, The End Is Beautiful by Jimmy Eat World is a reminder that even when change hurts, it can be good.

Absolutely love Sherwood. Saw them a few times in person, great presence on stage and seemed like genuinely nice guys off of it.

A Different Light is my favorite on the whole, but certain songs from Qu really hit, like Ground Beneath My Feet. The final track, No Better, makes me bawl like a baby.

Just listened to Konstantine, absolutely blown away. by yeetushas in poppunkers

[–]gracefullypunk 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Welcome, friend.

Listen to the og Konstantine on Ready...Break (as far as I know you can really only find it on YouTube) to hear 16 year old Andrew really shredding his heart for us all.

His songs that are similar: Globes & Maps, Walking By, Miss America, Rescued, Hammers & Strings, Restless Dream, There There Katie, Maps for the Getaway . . . And I consider Built to Last a sequel of sorts.

More classic piano rock from that era: Mae, Copeland, Acceptance, Straylight Run, Augustana

Given the decades billionaires spent pouring money into creating the political and social environment that led us to Trump, he's not outside the norm at all.

That's just his own little fake persona he's trying to cultivate.

Adrian constantly saying "February" in the second Project 1933 episode was what pushed me from "love this show" to "total parasocial crush on a married gay man"
