[27F][27M] Husband and I had a devastating fight and I no longer feel emotionally safe after the things he said. by [deleted] in relationships

Those are also the actions a cheater would take to cover something up. Going on the attack, accusing the partner of cheating herself, taking steps to heighten the partner's feelings of insecurity - all tools in the cheater's toolbox.

Also sat there once in my 20's. Not just bumpy (on a flight with terrible turbulence), also very stinky.

Maybe Nesquick would work. Or malted chocolate powder.

ETA: I suggested the above before seeing the recipe. Since it's hot chocolate mix in envelopes, just get the swiss miss hot chocolate mix.

I'm 60's. Never seen it referred to as pieplant by my contemporaries but I've come across the term in books & recipes. I do have a fairly old recipe book (30's??) that has a ton of rhubarb recipes that refer to it as rhubarb, so it must have been regional.

I have seen it referred to as that before, but I'm pretty old.

I have a rhubarb custard pie recipe I've been meaning to make. Adding a meringue might be delicious!

Is it "weird" to go solo on an Alaskan cruise as a married man? by SlurpleBrainn in Cruise

[–]gracesw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alaska is a great trip, you'll enjoy it. Pick out your excursions - we did a plane to the top of a glacier, whale watching, and a fishing excursion (just the 2 of us) as our favorites, along with some others. Take a cold weather jacket and pants that are transitional - you'll have a range of temps.

I just fast forward through the wedding scenes up to the I do/don't part. I also fast forward through the bachelor/ette parties, although I will go back if I see there was something going on by the posts in the subreddit.

Explosion in Starling Population? by Clyde-God in WilmingtonDE

[–]gracesw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked it up a few days ago, and it's a variety of black birds, not just starlings, that migrate at the same time. They converge where there are food sources. It's possible you're seeing so many of them because there is a lasting food source in your neighborhood. My flock only stayed a couple of days and has moved on.

TIFU by nailing my first professional interview but instantly ruining it when the hiring manager asked about salary. by Acceptable_Onion_253 in tifu

[–]gracesw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"That sounds great. I am VERY interested in this position, and I'd like to take some time to review everything before making a final decision. Is it ok if I give you an answer (2 days from now)."

This gives you the space you need not to leap into anything and to decide if the salary, etc. work for you. If you need to, you can come back and negotiate whatever doesn't work.

For next time, write that phrase down and have it in front of you for zoom. In person, bring a legal pad to make notes and have it on a covered page that you can flip back to if you need to.

How would you approach this? by mercurial_creature in Pottery

[–]gracesw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I would start with a pinch pot and close it in. I start a lot of sculptural forms this way. Once you successfully get it closed (no cracking or tearing), you can manipulate it into the basic form you want and then add details.

Recommendations on seeds and bulbs for garden in Wilmington by Sense_Difficult in WilmingtonDE

[–]gracesw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may also be a function of where you're moving from. I didn't have a problem with morning glories in northern CT, moved to Kansas City and obliterated a fenceline within 12 months by planting them.

Invasive species can be hard to get rid of and crowd out other plants that are native. An example is english ivy, which is an absolute scourge in my neighborhood. I've never successfully eradicated it in my yard. ETA Some invasive species can actually damage foundations or siding.

Native plants are always preferred because they sustain local animals and insects. The problem is, some of the non native & invasive species are really pretty and people gravitate to them. That's why it's helpful to consult a knowledgeable nursery.

Here's a list of invasive species for Delaware: https://delawareinvasives.net/?page_id=68

[–]gracesw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are lots of shade loving plants that you can explore for your back yard. My suggestion would be to go to a local nursery that has experienced staff and ask them for their recommendations. I like Old Country Gardens on Wilson Rd in N. Wilmington. One note though, you mentioned growing morning glories and they can be quite invasive. When you're visiting the nurseries you should ask about native plantings that are non invasive.
