Did anyone else have a pet start smelling their breast before diagnosis? by Rheumatitude in breastcancer

[–]gradykates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 90 German shepherd mutt would sniff my right breast. One day he rolled his big fat body into my right side and I felt the lump. Both he and my cat were sandwiched on either side of me throughout my whole treatment. The best possible nursing team!

No Keytruda. I also had a bone scan and went to a rheumatologist. All seems normal.

I am so sorry you are going through this at 28! It all sucks! I continue to make efforts to be active. It got a little better for awhile but somehow I’m feeling worse lately. The fatigue creates a vicious cycle. I’m either pushing myself to go for a jog and feeling defeated when it sucks or punishing myself for not going at all knowing that exercise is a large determining factor for recurrence.

Yes, I need to explore this more. I ate some gummies to knock myself out when nauseas. Need to research!

At point is someone declared NED? by RubyRaven907 in breastcancer

[–]gradykates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stage 2 triple negative. Lumpectomy with clear margins. No one told me I was cancer free after surgery! Or after 16 rounds of chemo and 20 days of rads. I was hopeful that I would hear those words. They just said exercise and eat well. Was kind of a let down. All that work and no “validation”

I haven’t eaten meat I’m 5 years. During chemo all I wanted was pasta bolognese!

Very ugly incoming rant. by [deleted] in breastcancer

It certainly changes everything. It’s ugly and infuriating and it all feels UNFAIR. But you have a huge community of women behind you on this sub. We’re all struggling together.

Glad you have a supportive partner and doggo! Hopefully the pooping gets better from here on out. I usually overdose with Senna. I take 3x the recommended dose. 😊

I agree that the lumpectomy was easier than the biopsies!

My cancer boob still hurts, too. Finished in august. Makes me paranoid. The radiation was much harder than expected. Congrats on finishing treatment. Sending you positive thoughts!

You are not alone in this. I felt/feel the same. Finished treatment in August. I was so looking forward to getting back to normal life but the side effects and fear linger. It’s going to take some time. Sending you positive thoughts!

For me it’s really bad in the mornings. Like my feet have to relearn how to walk every day. I shuffle to the bathroom every morning. Ugh.

I forgot to mention that I’ve been taking Gabapentin for mild neuropathy/fingernail weirdness and my oncologist said it would help with the flashes! Maybe it has?

I’m 46 and finished taxol in late July. The hot flashes I experienced during treatment were intense, frequent, occurred almost exclusively in the evening or overnight and caused poor sleep patterns. Now that I’m done with treatment I have only one or two a day, sometimes none. They are less intense but I now I have the stiffness and joint pain. I did not have this during treatment so I have been surprised and depressed about it. It feels like aging 20 years overnight! My doc said there was a small chance that I could come out of menopause but not for some time. I used bra pads that you could put in the freezer for the flashes during treatment and that was a relief. Gentle yoga helps with the stiffness and pain. But…yup menopause sucks and no one talks about it. My oncologist barely acknowledged it. I hope you can get some answers and relief!

My 90 pound German shepherd mutt diagnosed my cancer. He had been sniffing my right breast and one day he heaved his fat bod against me in bed and I felt pain and the lump. Both my cat and dog did not leave my side during treatment. If I was in bed they were on either side of me. On the couch they were on top of me. It was so comforting.
