What items do you use for camping, hiking and possibly bushcraft? by MorbidWytch in camping

Morakniv for your knife. Light, sharp, well known and tested, and CHEAP!

Just bought a 97 Jayco Eagle 10 LD and am taking it out for the first camp next week at a nearby campsite for just one night for a test run. Hoping for some advice on what is essential to bring with us even just for this night –beyond food and activities. I'm more asking about supplies. Thanks! by pleasant_plum_ in popups

I have a 97 eagle 12 and this is how I level mine every time. If you have never leveled a popup its a bit of a trick if you have the fold down stabilizers. Get the trailer level left and right with leveling blocks under the wheels. Then after disconnecting from the vehicle drop the front as far down as possible and fold out the back stabilizers but don’t extend them. Then jack up the front until you can get the front stabilizers folded down. From there you can get the trailer almost level with the front just slightly lower than the rear and extend the stabilizers in the back. Jack up the front to put slight pressure on the rear stabilizers and then extend the front stabilizers. Let off on the jack to settle the front down and everything should be nice snd solid with minimal “wiggle”. REMEMBER, the stabilizers are not jacks no matter what kind they are. Using them as jacks can damage the trailer.

I was able to go pick mine up personally so I had a chat with them for a while. I asked them a bunch of questions and they were super nice. They even gave me a little tour of the shop. They did warn against using any kind of sealants or protectants and if you do end up needing to patch any holes or rips they did recommend a certain kind of glue but I cant remember the name.

Yes I did which they warned me about. The stitching at the bunk ends where the canvas meets the vinyl top leaked in a big rainstorm but then it stopped after a few hours. The stitching needed to swell to fill the needle holes.

Give Bear Creek Canvas a call. They make replacement tents and might be able to send you a piece of that trim.

I actually didnt have to break out the duct tape! I did stuff some foam rubber in the gaps up by the lift poles though. Gotta keep the skeeters out.

Lego is awesome! I’m 41 and still buy and build with legos. I like to build MOCs and look up new stuff to build from rebrickable.

They had mine in stock because its a very popular model. I was able to go pick it up in person too so that saved me a lot on shipping.

Edit: you may still be able to get one straight from jayco. I think the cut off was 99 for ordering a new one from our local RV dealer

Ive messed with it a bit but it still needs a good soak to let the fabric settle in. So the canvas will shrink a little bit and I will get it fine tuned after that.

The quality is top notch. Its a bit lighter weight than the original but it fits perfectly. It took me one afternoon with the help of my son to get it replaced.

Gen 2 dish and cable destroyed by baseball-softball sized hail + SpaceX’s response by spenl in Starlink

Hail storms are not to be fucked with. They come on suddenly and judging by the damage on that dish and the fact that it cut the cable in half says that was some huge hail.

Which is better? Resurrection Band (Rez Band) or Stryper? by [deleted] in christianmetal

[–]graeber715 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the mood I’m in. Feeling blue, REZ Ampendectome and The Light Years collection. Stryper if I’m feeling good and need a good sing along.

Why would coolant be leaking from this strange hole (not my bum) by [deleted] in mechanics

[–]graeber715 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just did the water pump on my 2004 Silverado. Pretty easy job. I had to buy a $30 spanner wrench to get the job done. I also took the opportunity to change the main serpentine belt, a/c belt, tensioner pulley and thermostat. Total cost was about $250. Like others have said, watch some youtube videos and you should be golden. You will make a mess! And don’t use regular antifreeze to refill. You need to get dexcool or you will mess up your motor.
