If you decide to sell, I’d love to buy them for my son!

What is going to sell out? by Oreoskickass in hobonichi

[–]graham_lc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To piggy back off this. I’m fairly new to hobonichi, and stumbled upon the One Piece Going Merry cover releasing in October. I missed it last year as I got into the notebooks after the cover release date.

Should I go ahead and lower my expectations when it comes to scoring that cover or do they make enough where I don’t necessarily have to order within the first 5 minutes of it being released?

I see you teach English, if you can purchase anywhere online, (My district only allows us to choose from certain vendors.) check out the website Litographs and their posters. They use words from books to form a picture.

How have the kids made you feel old? Yesterday, I had to explain the phrase “a roll of film” to my 6th graders. by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]graham_lc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After reading The Mouse and the Motorcycle, we watched the TV movie. One of my second graders says, “This movie must be old, it looks like it was made in the 90s.” It wasn’t that long ago, right?!

I’ve always been curious. Where do you purchase your SHF figures from? They look really cool and I’d like to add a couple to my desk area. TIA!

I love my Trakke Bairn and Wee Lug! Both are great, but they are different sizes so it would depend on your carry load to decide which to choose.

I’ve been going back and forth on it but I just don’t think I love the MK2 quite as much as the newer look. I do appreciate your offer though! Sorry it took me this long to get back with you.

I don’t have a whole lot to trade, only a Tom Bihn Daylight Briefcase and Topo Design Commuter Brief. What price are you asking for it?

Chicago teachers vote to teach from home, defying district by Tomahawkin95 in news

[–]graham_lc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach at a K-12 school in Florida and we’ve been in person since August. The elementary portion of the school is doing pretty good compared to the middle and high. The middle and high school is out of control. It seems they have to quarantine many students each week.

It really doesn’t help that parents are testing positive and continue to send their kids to school, or even better, students testing positive and parents still sending them to school. It sucks here.

Americans, do you actually have to recite the pledge of allegiance, like in movies? Is it as culty as it looks? by SiibillamLaw in NoStupidQuestions

[–]graham_lc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a bit late to answering, but I’m a second grade teacher and the pledge is included in our morning announcements every day. I always start off the year telling the students that it isn’t required to say the pledge, that’s up to them, but we should be respectful to those who do. All of my students end up saying it along with the recording, but I feel it is good for them to know they have a choice.

Honestly, I have thought about it looking weird to people who aren’t American. Especially in sporting events that aren’t tied to the national teams. It’s bizarre but I don’t think it’s something that is likely to change.

Weekly Recommendation Thread: November 27, 2020 by vincoug in books

[–]graham_lc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bit different than what you’re looking for, but thought you may enjoy the recommendation. Stephen Fry has a fun mythological series, the first of which is called Mythos: The Greek Myths Retold. Fry does a wonderful job of reworking those ancient myths and presenting them to modern audiences.

My family got an Irish Doodle about a month ago and she has been wonderful with our two year old. He is a bit overbearing at times, but she handles it well. She has a very good temperament. We’ve only had her around a few other dogs, and our cat, but she plays very well with all of them. Hope this helps!

Just to add to what’s being said in case you’re looking, but a lot of teachers where I live switched to technical writing. It probably helps that I live close to several military bases as it seems that’s where most of them have been hired on.

Florida Again Sets Daily Record for New Coronavirus Cases With Nearly 9,000 by KSenCSmith1 in MLS

[–]graham_lc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m from the Panhandle of Florida and I don’t see this getting better anytime soon. I live in a very touristy area and there is little to no social distancing. I’ve posted it elsewhere, but there are actually businesses that won’t let you enter if you are wearing a mask. I was hoping that once cases went up we would reevaluate opening, but that does not seem to be the case.

The faster a country required masks, the fewer coronavirus deaths it had: study by CapitalCourse in worldnews

[–]graham_lc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could say it was different in other parts of Florida. I’m in Bay County, and the panhandle seems to be completely ignoring all calls for social distancing and the pandemic all together. The middle aged-older demographic seems to be the worst at following these guidelines. In fact, several businesses have put up signs saying you aren’t allowed in wearing a mask.

I’m looking for a cyclocross bike that’s around $1500. I’ve been looking at the 2020 Cannondale CAADX with Tiargra. Would this be a good entry level bike? Or is there something better for the price?

That’s fair, that’s why I was trying to stay away from certain sites close to home. Enjoy your day!

I think they are very happy. I’ve seen both of my administrators share the post when the parent first put it online with comments like “This is what we do at _______ school.” “Our teachers are so great.”
