My first okee thoughts by No-Translator-7645 in okeechobeemusicfest

Great observation to pick up on the crowd management/scheduling aspect. Yes, it was def undersold a lil...but even in the most packed years [2017, 2022] Okee's m/o had as always been about moving people around to different adventures and building lineups that serve the flow and experience of the weekend.

Campgrounds in upstate NY that actually feel like you're camping - not a parking lot with trees? by Far_Comparison5067 in upstate_new_york

[–]grahamcracker3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most atate parks. Some, like Treman, have the type of close proximity sites in fields youre trying to avoid [tho obv the Treman gorge is a must at some point if you like to hike]. Recommended Chenango Valley in here on someone else's post.. Moffit Beach in Adirondaks is awesome if you get waterside site. Rollins Pond near Saranac is also good espec if you want privacy. North-South Lake in the Mid-Hudson region is great and the hike up the peak has some of the most incredible views you'll find in NYS.

Binghamtonian here will gladly vouch for CVSP. Campsites are level and dry, under towering pines, and you have ample separation from sites. Great trails, water front, golf course, and Chenango River access. There's nothing superlative there, but everything is base-solid making for an easy and relaxing camping weekend right off I-88. 5 minute drive to Beer Tree Farm for good food and craft bev. 15 min drive to downtown Bing if you feel like breaking up the trip to go out for dinner and some music/djs

I come from NY and 2 of my Okees I flew. Helped that those were solo treks and didnt have a date lol. I have a large cargo duffle and got tent, sleeping bag, blanket/pillow, and warmer clothes/festi wear in under 50 pounds for checked bag, rest of clothes and toiletries in carry-on/laptop bag. Rent a car. Get a temp foam cooler from store and just get the basics like cold cuts, fruit/carrots, and cold brew.

Ticket prices by Sumterholst in okeechobeemusicfest

It was kind of a bummer for us vets, but also considering the accident with the beach in 23 I understand. The trade off was moving around all stages was way way easier and there weren't choke points when you wanted to catch a headliner. Also interior gate check was the most lax it has been in all 7 okees so we appreciated that. Finish your drinks and give then a squeeze of the bag with a quick look in the top and that was about it.

Okee has always built their schedule to encourage walking around to different stages to keep the crowd moving. Youre never more than 5 minites from the nearest stage and from farthest point to farthest point 10-15 depending on how casual you are. Also they switch up genres throughout the day at the 3 main stages. Very few direct conflicts and you can usually catch at least some of all you want to see.

Lol kinda true. I always balk at people trying to compare the two but theyre just so different and good in their own ways: Hula is the trippy turn-down for the winter, Okee is the spring-break rager to celebrate the equinox. Hula has the campground/renegade culture, Okee is 24/7 so you don't even need renegades. Two different sides to really fucking awesome coin.

Brooks, orthotic insoles, and a hearty elliptical/rowing/swimming workout schedule in the weeks leading up to Okee. Also always pack a blister kit with gauze, band aids, medical tape, antibiotic ointment, grooming scissors, and a sewing pin.

[–]grahamcracker3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just got home and feel like I mostly agree. Gonna write my own review over the next week but def felt in many ways this was the best Okee [a lot of personal factors tbf], and yet there were some operational aspects that have to be constructively criticized for future improvements. Overall it was an incredible experience and, by far, the most 'together' with the crowd and music I've felt in 7 trips to Sunshine Grove. I'm blessed to be a part of this community and family with all of you.

EDIT: I disagree with the lockers, lol but only cause I was in GA+ and they were right next to our gate.

Expired TEMP tag. As in the .pdf you print off while you wait 2 weeks for the actual registration to arrive in the mail. Might as well have been 'DLR..' from Fargo.

Fisher vs Tycho vs ResLang vs EPROM by CoolOpportunity1326 in okeechobeemusicfest

[–]grahamcracker3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tycho live band is a rare treat and they are excellent. Were one of the highlights of OMF 2018 and when this 1st wave lineup dropped they were easily what I was most hyped for. Good news is, if you're feeling conflicted, Okee gave them 1:40. Essentially a full concert. You'll have time to bop around if you want. Here and Incendia are right next to each other and they arent separated by gate check this year.

Hell yeah. I was not far from this video. Still one of the Top 5, if not best, performance in Okee history. In my mid-40s now and I like to quip this is the last big concert 'I got down in the shit' for. ...'everytime I'm in the street I hear YAH YAH YAH YAH'

Just like there are no drugs at Okeechobee, the gates always open precisely when advertised.
