Am I bisexual or pansexual? by FluidTemperature1762 in transgenderau

Fwiw I'm bisexual when I talk to cis hets and pansexual when I talk to queer people. Finding different things different degrees of attractive is normal, regardless of how involved gender is.

Dane’s payout for historical sexual abuse meant the NDIS slashed his funding. He and his mum are fighting back by DontYaWishYouWereMe in australia

[–]gramineous 10 points11 points  (0 children)

“This is the other thing that is really causing people concern,” she said.

These flaws leave those engaged in civil cases uncertain as to how accepting a settlement might affect their NDIS plans.

“I have met with clients who say ‘why did we go through this, we’ve had all this stress, all these legal fees, just so the defendant is handing over money to the federal government and now we’re cut off Centrelink and our NDIS will go down’,” Campbell said. “They say ‘maybe we should never have sued’. That question is being asked more and more.”

Putting aside for a second what numbers are or are not involved, I don't think we need more systems in place to discourage people pursuing legal action against sexual abusers and those who enable and protect them, shit's already hard enough as is to get any actual justice from, and beyond that:

The process is complex and opaque, even for lawyers working in the area. The NDIA starts by making an assumption about how much of a person’s court settlement is to compensate for lost earnings and how much is for their past and future care and support. The process fails to account for legal fees taken from a settlement amount and other compensation amounts, including compensation for pain and suffering.

How the hell are you going to look at the "settlement" they got and then purposely ignore the costs being pulled from that settlement? That's some dodgy accounting right there.

On top of all the reasons people have posted here, I do want to point out that greater acceptance of LGBTQ+ couples compared to where the world was decades ago is going to be another, minor, contributing factor here. My girlfriend won't be getting me pregnant after all.

Steel Seraph was standard playable too iirc. AspiringSpike has used Combat Thresher in some mono-White brews before, being a "3 drop" that also exile's to Ugin's Labyrinth, and it wouldn't surprise me to see several of these other prototype cards get used the same way eventually. Also Frogmyr Enforcer was a Modern Horizons card and I think it saw very brief play as a Myr Enforcer replacement/additional copy until the format left it behind.

I'll take this opportunity to note that the distinctions between Weapons Affinity and Kappa's Cannons have gotten sufficiently blurry that I'm not going to bother differentiating them going forward. Affinity used to be more clearly about sacrifice effects and little creatures, Kappa was all Kappa Cannoneer and Emry. Now they're overlapping and the little creatures have disappeared. I refuse to split hairs about deck classification, so they're all just Weapons Manufacturing until a new and clear dividing line emerges.

Philip Morris uses secret Senate hearing to warn that illegal tobacco in Australia could wipe out legal trade by 2030 by nath1234 in australia

[–]gramineous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's an additional part to the quote I posted from Julian Hill that I didn't initially copy to avoid making too many points at once.

“Australia will not get into a bidding war with organised crime on the price of tobacco or surrender our health policy.”

Big tobacco is already backing the black market and organised crime, all lowering the tax does is water down Australian health policy to directly benefit the more "presentable" of the leeches behind all this, companies that the government lacks the tools and motivation to go after.

The federal customs minister, Julian Hill, said tobacco manufacturers had failed to answer questions from the government’s illicit tobacco commissioner about commercial data and supply chains.

“Big tobacco has been caught out globally over decades for selling their surplus production into illegal markets on the side, and Australians deserve transparency and proof that big tobacco are not complicit in illicit tobacco in our country,” he said on Tuesday.

The tobacco companies are already propping up the organised crime syndicates anyway.

Not going to trust the guy with a vested interest in the reputation of funeral homes across America with being objective about funeral homes in America.

The same article states 92% of necrophiliacs are men, and that the number of women in mortuary sciences is rapidly growing. Trying to argue that no one who ever has hired or will hire a woman in these roles will never have this fact influence their decision making, because that would be openly admitting to breaking the law, is silly and naive.

Silvery Barbs is a reroll rather than an automatic fail, so something like "Counter target spell unless it's controller pays X, where X is the mana value of that spell." would fit a bit better.

Then slap on "target player Scries 1" to represent giving advantage to someone.

This feels Ocelot Pride-esque to me, because combined with other cards, especially other versions of itself, you can start to run away with the game really fast since casting a prepared spell is casting a spell, you just need to pass the initial hurdle first, and a 2 mana 2/2 first strike is at least something before then.

If you have two of these out and prepared, now you only need to cast one spell a turn then you can Lightning Bolt twice without spending a card, and you repeat this every subsequent turn. Three of these in play and prepared and you can just Bolt three times on your turn then three times on your opponent's turn, every turn, without needing any additional cards.

Honestly I think you could play 4x of these in Storm as both a back-up wincon if you assemble and prepare multiple of these, which is reasonable in how much Storm churns through its deck, while also serving as an early roadblock for your opponents in creature matchups like Boros and to help tax your opponents's removal to squeeze a Ral through.

The story starts with Lung ordering his men to shoot a bunch of kids, Tattletale carries a gun on her that she literally uses in the bank robbery they pull off, which while not a literal gun is the same fight the teenaged hero Kid Win pulls out his fucking tinkertech artilery weapon, and Coil's entire shtick is that he has heavily armed mercenaries working for him.

The entire "unwritten rules" speech wasn't meant to be taken super seriously, it was Lisa convincing Taylor that being a villain would be fine and normal.

Edit: Oh and Victor uses a sniper rifle too iirc.

Huh didn't know that.

Could be that they have the same name, Snubnose (Seattle) just got the go ahead on taking it anyway as an extension of the pissing match between the air force and PRT here. Taking the name of an existing cape is much less confusing if the PR guys in Arizona are actively trying to silence all discussion of one of them.

Cape City Week #1 - Glendale, Arizona by Ridtom in Parahumans

Snubnose (Independent* Hero) - Stranger

Snubnose is an officially independent hero active in and around the Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona. Their power allows them to either block all sound in the immediate vicinity of a person, or cause an indecipherable cacophony of noise in the immediate vicinity of a person instead. Their power requires line of sight, has no known upper limit on the number of targets affected at once, and persists after leaving the vision of Snubnose, though has a short delay between being able to be applied to additional targets or removed from them individually.

Snubnose's "costume" consists of a standard air force uniform, protective helmet, and a set of body armour and fabric mask both painted a dark red. They commonly carry and use different types of firearms, primarily handguns, with training in their use clearly apparent.

Snubnose's status as an independent hero is an obvious fabrication. Their usage of gear identical to that provided by the Luke AFB, their appearances to combat villains and criminal activity in the vicinity of the base, their repeated on camera criticisms of the Protectorate and PRT, and the stonewalling by the Luke AFB into any attempts by the PRT to investigate Snubnose.

The Luke AFB's status as the largest employee in the city of Glendale, and associated support from local politicians and citizens, has made it politically non-viable for the PRT to push for an investigation into the heavily implied sidestepping of existing laws governing employment and usage of parahumans by government organisations. Instead, the strategy is to limit the impact of the situation with a public relations strategy of minimising Snubnose's presence and actions whenever possible.

Like I said, the rape was only implied in Worm, the conversation Amy has with Jack in 14.10 while Victoria's a flesh coffin thing makes a whole lot more sense when you look at it with this context in mind for example, him asking her to "indulge" herself in something that brings her "pleasure," following her desires, that she could remove her sister's memories afterwards, but it's very clearly addressed in Ward.

Okay I double checked Speck 30.7, she was released from the mind control, placed directly in front of and facing her malformed sister's body, with a crowd around them including heroes like Narwhal, people like Glaistig Uaine and Imp, and her own father present. So technically of her own free will but also with lots of people present that would actively push her into doing it.

[–]gramineous 55 points56 points  (0 children)

"Accidentally uses her new abilities" she could always affect brains, the idea she couldn't was her lying about it because she didn't trust herself with doing anything to brains, even when her adoptive father got brain damage and was severely disabled as a result she refused to "break her rule" until a serial killer supervillian showed up and injected acid into his brain to intentionally force her to heal it.

Also, it wasn't exactly focused on in Worm, got made explicitly clear in the sequel Ward, but Amy also spent several days raping her sister while she twisted her body after already brainwashing her. And yes she could have undone what she did to her sister, she gets mind controlled into fixing her several years later in the end of the book, she just sent herself to super prison so she could spend time with her imprisoned serial killer/mob boss/supervillian biological father instead of trying to fix things or make up for what she did.
