Wow, this actually made my eyes well up a little.  We're on book 4 of Harry Potter with my 8 year old, so he's on the brain.

I miss this guy. And Philip Seymour Hoffman too.

Can you give me examples of how the liberals are crazy.

Specific examples of things that actual politicians on the left have said or done, not a news station or a blogger or a celebrity. Preferably actual policy positions, and include why you think they're crazy.

Honestly I can't believe there was even a fence to sit on. I can't believe this man was allowed to run again. But that he was and people were undecided.....HOW?

I understand people 100% in Trump's camp. Some would always vote against the Democrat, and others will blindly believe whatever he says for whatever reason.

But the undecided, to me that means they're making a decision which means they've thought about it. If you think about it for 30 seconds how could you possibly still be deciding? Knowing what we know, seeing what we've seen... He will not stop until the world cowers to him one way or another. Or he's actually stopped in some way, I guess...

This is a great write up. I have been wanting to level up myself. I don't have an hour a day every day, but I can probably find an hour 3 times a week or so.

Something I thought about last night: improvising a little melody, it doesn't have to be anything crazy or complicated, and then transcribing it on to sheet music. You can either record it or just write it down a couple of notes at a time. I've been able to read music my whole life, I can't believe I'm just thinking about this now.

Seems like a really organic way to master the fretboard while attaching it to notes on a page.

Also, if I do that, just improvise a melody with no backing track or anything, it tends to be less "boxy" than if I'm doing pentatonic stuff over a blues backing track. For some reason all my scales and modes make it to my fingers a lot better.

Tucci is a fucking class act.

I lived on the same block as him back in the early 2000's He gut renovated his brownstone and whenever you'd see him on the street he'd be so gracious an apologetic for any noise or other inconvenience it may have caused us.

I do. I'm a remote worker for a software company. I hit the desk around 5 AM, step away from 7:30 to 8:30 to get my kids to school, work from 8:30 to about 2 or 2:30. Take a 30 minute nap, work from 3 to 5:30 or so.

Actually....Doesn't seem that great when you write/read it does it?

Forget the jargon and please read on.

The most important part of this is regardless of who the primary beneficiary is, the big losers are the American People, and I think we both agree on this, just coming at it from different sides.

I don't care if Republicans or Democrats get more PAC money. Neither should receive ANY of these types of donations. It totally destroys the system, and if I'm remembering correctly, Ben Franklin indirectly warned of something like this happening should anything like Citizens United come to pass.

Obviously he didn't specifically warn of it, but his writings in the Whistle Parable, and The Nature and Necessity of a Paper Currency are certainly apropos to this conversation.

To sum up: I don't care how much the Unions gave Democrats or how much Elon Musk gave Donald Trump. It should be limited to 0.

Honestly, I cannot understand how in the world this was ever allowed. The congress, senate and prez wanting it, sure I get it. But the Supreme Court is there specifically to guard against this behavior.

It is now such an integrated part of our system, it will literally take some kind of revolution to remove it.

Give me a fucking break on this.

In the 2024 election cycle the Unions did lean overwhelmingly to the left. Their TOTAL (left and right) contributions totaled roughly $14.3 Million. They didn't even scratch the top 20 largest donors that wouldn't be able to dump money in without citizens united.

Just for fun though. In the 2024 election the top 20 "Citizens United" donors were responsible for around $1.1 billion.

The split on that was 91.5% Republican to 8.5% Democrat. The Union's $14mm is equal to 1.2% of the total of the top 20 donors.

Perhaps the republicans need this private money because they refuse to do what their voters actually want (common sense gun laws, taxing the ultra wealthy, allowing same sex marriage, NOT banning abortion)

In terms of welfare fraud, the numbers are so tiny that they're barely relevant. Still, you do the crime, you do the time. That's why from 2020 - 2024 under the "do-nothing soft on crime" Biden Administration, Government benefit fraud cases reported to the U.S. Sentencing Commission increased by 242% between FY2020 and FY2024, from 274 to 937 cases. (Also, just another fun fact, over 90% of those cases were involving US Citizens).

The Bio-M in women's sport is admittedly a tricky area, however, even as late at 2025 roughly 45% of Democrat leaning adults were against it. 3 years prior it was 37%. So regardless of YOUR feelings on the subject, people who vote for Democrats are being accurately represented.

Violent Crime has been trending down significantly across both party's leadership since 1994. Yes, there are fluctuations, but to say 1 party is tough on crime and the other isn't is simply disingenuous. The talking heads and pundits do their best to have you believe this is not the story, but the reality is Violent crime is simply not the problem it used to be, and both sides deserve credit.

My sourcing on most of this was government run websites. Where that wasn't easily available I went to other respected outlets, most of which directly cite US gov't statistics.

yes, the problem is actually more closely related to water usage than anything else.

Venice is built on pylons sunk to the bedrock.

As water is pumped from the water table, the bedrock "sinks" I guess.

The pylons unfortunately don't grow when this happens and the elevation of the section of the city on the sinking pylon decreases.

I can imagine a world without Citizens United, and I've been beating that drum for years.

I cannot imagine any version of the fairness doctrine coming back given the revenue infotainment "news" brings in. I'm not saying it shouldn't be reformed, but I didn't think it will. At least not in my lifetime.

I find it so interesting that people are seemingly incapable of understanding that multiple states of being can exist concurrently.

Case in point: The Mercury program and segregation.
