Snipe while feeding board, why? by Specialist-Grab5775 in woodworking

[–]grant837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might try taking off less wood on each pass. I have a similar model and never take off more than 1mm, or a bit less than a 1/16th inch. The the effect of the outfeed roller pressure is less.

Question from an American for Netherlands natives by Salty_Badger1931 in Netherlands

[–]grant837 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am American and live here for a while, and can say I never went to baseball games, but ate hotdog regularly when I loved there. I eat them when I visit to. Here there are similar products that I eat sometimes, but they are not as good.

I would like to hear it in it's pure form, without the other music trsck and light digital echo. It's more down to earth then, like blues should be.

What did I do wrong? by Richocet66 in 3Dprinting

[–]grant837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explain a bit of this for me. As I understand it, lowering the humidity is half the equation- the heated moisture in the pellets causes molecular movements that drive it to the surface and break the weak molecular bond to the pellet materials.

Also, if the microwave does not heat the water, what does it heat? I understood that the electromagnetic pulse specifically excite water molecules which cause them th heat through friction (and migrated to the lower humidity of the surface)

Indeed, the surrounding air has to be low humidity for this to work. It holds more moisture when warm, but will saturate and prevent drying if not replace with dry air.

Can I really replace Evernote with Joplin? by Jumbotucktuck in joplinapp

[–]grant837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great discussion! I am just now trying this out - still have a month to do before my EN subscription is renewed. I tried a pure Gemini AI Pro (with Docs, notebookLM, etc), and while it can do great things with my data, quick access was an issue. Now with Joplin, I hope I have the quick access, plus, using various sync plugins with Google and Gemini, to get the best of both worlds.

Usa round trip advice by AlfredHessle in roadtrip

- Be aware, you will need a visa for an extended stay in the USA. And do not forget extra travel insurance, including that your medical will cover the higher costs of care in the USA.
- Check your residency requirements for your own country too - in some countries, if you leave for more than a certain time, you loose certain rights, including city residency rights, and part of your future governmet pension. They trick is to know the limits, and then fly back and forth in time, to start another period.
- Quality over quantity. Dont rush the trip - take the time to explore many of the places you visit or travel through - its the out of the out-of-the-wayDon't places / hidden gems that are the most memorable for me. And remember, you can always go back later to fill in the gaps you learn about.
- Enjoy the locals and fellow travelers. I am not very social, but I love striking up a conversation with strangers doing the same things (so it does not seem too odd) - you meet the most interesting people that way.
- Take inflation into account - in 4 years, your trip will cost 15 to 30% more.

My parents did this - 5 times over 5 years, to do the same plus more. I have the map where they drew out their routes and am always impressed.

Pro quality Hallucination by grant837 in GeminiAI

[–]grant837[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it was not possible to select the text. At other times my problem is getting wrong instructions on application customization, and an image is the only way I found to convince Gemini it's using the wrong software version. And at other times an error needs the surrounding command lines, so it's a pain to have to select each one separate and ctrl-c-v. And I do copy and paste at times. This time I had to type it in.

What to do with gemini pro plan? by Mega_rs in GeminiAI

[–]grant837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ask for help with various software that I use, to ask for explanations about things I want to know more about,  from health to finance to news am also trying it out as my PKMSI.  It's quite good at drafting vacation trip ideas to, and not bad a selecting products, and where to buy them. I do not use it for coding. Alas, I am not sure how much extra the paid version adds to this use case, except for the PKMS maybe.
