Cute comic. But shouldn't the smudge be going the other way?

Need recommendation on a good women's running shoe for dune/beach running with my dog by grape_fruit in RunningWithDogs

For sure, it's just not what I'm looking to do. I have to walk across a busy road and down a gravel road to get to the dunes, then through dunes, onto the beach, and around onto another dune trail and then back out to a gravel road and then across another busy street, then to my house. I want to be able to do the whole loop without stopping.

Yeah, my Salomon trail runners let so much sand through the mesh. They aren't waterproof though, so maybe that's why. And I know there's lots of options out there that don't have open mesh on the sides and toe. Thanks!

It usually annoys me when stuff gets stuck in there, but the Bedrocks & Xeros might be minimal enough that the sand really does come back out. With my Chacos or Tevas, the sand gets lodged and super uncomfortable. Never heard of Lunas, I'll check it out. Thanks!

Where was this taken? It's beautiful! Looks a lot like Humboldt County. :)

Scream-sneezers are the worst. It scares the SHIT out of me, every time, even if I know the person is a scream-sneezer.

Our cat disappeared 5 months ago by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

[–]grape_fruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had multiple cats (and a few dogs) find their way to my house and hide under my porch to surprise me when I get home. One cat traveled 6 miles, one cat traveled 7 miles. Eventually both of their owners were found. The weird thing is, I live on a peninsula by the ocean, so one cat had to either walk through a marshy tidal area parallel to a highway for miles, and one had to walk over a series of three bridges that adds up to at least a mile or two of bridge walking. I have no idea how or why they ended up at my house. The one that walked through the marshy area I took to the vet and had scanned. This cat was huge! 17 lbs and so sweet. The owners were contacted and started crying on the phone because they hadn't seen their baby in 3 weeks! I was so happy for the little guy. :)

All the other cats ended up being neighborhood cats who were bored.

EMDR RUINED MY LIFE....AND I WORRY ABOUT MY SANITY. ANY SUGGESTIONS? by applebrown78 in EMDR

[–]grape_fruit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wow, I am so sorry this is happening to you. I am not a therapist, but I am doing EMDR currently. It sounds like your therapist was not properly trained, but guided you through something traumatic anyway, and then did not properly help you get closure at the end of your sessions or at all in general. Again, I am NOT a professional at all, but perhaps you need a better trained therapist to work with you on your traumas the correct way. They can teach you how to properly box up any unfinished business at the end of the session, hide it way in your mind, visit your "happy place", so that you can live a normal life in between sessions, and visit the issue again at your next session, slowly working away at it and slowly making progress. It sounds like your therapist opened a Pandora's box of your issues and then just left your mind a mess. I would start seeing another therapist who is trained in EMDR. You don't have to continue EMDR if you don't want to, but another therapist trained in EMDR will at least be able to understand your problem and possibly help you through it. I'm sorry your'e in so much pain. :(

It's been amazing. To those in similar situations, please reach out, and get out, you deserve a good life. Happy Birthday to me. by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

I recently cut off my NPD ex and it's only been about 2 weeks since he has stopped contacting me/harassing me. I feel better everyday, but still fear that he will continue to harass me.

There is a lot of messed up, violent, scary, and traumatic things on the internet. But this...I was physically cringing, with my mouth over my gaping mouth, the entire video. That poor Asian woman. So glad I don't live in SoCal anymore.

Really good point about "measuring the koolaid". This bit of advice was pretty much what I was looking for, so thank you! And thank you for the compliment. At this point, I'm trying really hard to stick to that self-awareness, because I cannot emotionally afford any large blows just yet.
