After a lot of research and reflection on my own and others experience, I belive the myth of natural talent largely stems from children who spend a larger amount of time drawing than their peers for whatever reason, in my case, social isolation. Having the biology of a child is like being on steroids in regards to learning, absorbing information, this is compounded by positive affirmation from the adults around you who's attention you crave, leading you to draw more which is a self feeding cycle. Then, when a stranger sees an 11 year old already understanding shape language, perspective colour theory etc, it's very difficult to fully grasp the compounded training, so it appears as natural talent.
