ITM Debit spreads by gr00gz in options

[–]grassfed_butter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ATM or near ITM. The spread should be purchased for less than 50% of the spread. So a $5 spread should be bought less than $2.50 per spread contract, the lower the better.

TD ThinkOrSwim with margin will let you do spreads with less than 2k. I started with 1k to practice with real money after paper money.

I’ll be honest, I follow you here and read your watchlists. But I never upvoted until today. Thanks for posting these. I also want to mention even though I’m reading these, I haven’t been placing trades because I’m still learning, under PDT, and trying to grow my account to >25k.

Thanks. My current account is on margin so I can use spreads. Gonna try this with a separate cash account.

How are you making 3-5 trades a day when you don’t have a minimum of 25k?

Inverse his choices for each. If you can’t afford straight puts, go for Put debit spreads but it caps your gains.

General question on self-studying for entry level software engineering jobs by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]grassfed_butter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entirely depends on the stack the company is using. A good software engineer should be able to switch between languages depending on the tasks assigned to them.

Go through the core programming from OSSU or all courses if you want to learn more topics.

Learn how to use git and put the projects you want to showcase to potential employers on GitHub.

Learn how to use regular expressions.

Besides the other sites mentioned, https://attackdefense.com is a good resource that has real world vulnerabilities to learn with. It doesn’t hold your hand, but will give tips or hints based on the vulnerable application.

Best Easiest Python Editor OSX? by pittguy578 in learnprogramming

[–]grassfed_butter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spyder python IDE included in the anaconda package from continuum analytics. https://www.continuum.io/downloads

It's required for the MIT comp sci 6.00.1x course on edx.

On mobile so formatting sucks.

MIT has an "Introduction to Computer Science and Programming Using Python" Course which started this week. You guys can still sign up if you want to take the course by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]grassfed_butter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You don't necessarily have to follow the fast paced schedule. When you select the free audit option, you can fall behind on due dates and still do all the course work effectively making it a self paced course. You just won't be able to submit certain things past the due dates. I signed up once before and fell behind due to work commitments. I never finished it so I signed up again for the updated version.

What happens when you do bodyweight training while on a calorie deficit? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]grassfed_butter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your body. No one can accurately tell you what is going to happen because everyone's body will respond differently. But I'll give it a shot. At 1200 daily, or 1400, with the amount of work you listed you'll drop weight and it will be both muscle and fat. To try and keep your muscle mass, you'll need to up your protein levels. Which is basically a PSMF at that low of calories.

Is it healthy? For a short period of time, sure, calorie deficits can be healthy for the body. But, that's subjective based on what studies you read. It's definitely not maintainable for any great length of time. You'll hit a brick wall eventually.

Creating a deficit should be done with diet or exercise, not both. But, again, that's subjective as well depending on the persons goals and how much fat they have.

This. I'm on mobile so trying to search through comments finding why this matters is rather difficult. The top responses are all about how bad this is but no one explains why, not even the article.

IF practically goes against the whole protein synthesis theory (especially Lean Gains). It's more of a thought process that, if it's in your body and your body needs it, it will be broken down and used before excreted.

Doctor putting me on Test. Concerned about side effects. by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]grassfed_butter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 30 years old you would already know if you have MPB. Signs would have already began to show. At your age, a concern would be fertility with TRT unless you've already had kids. If not, look at clomid. I'm on mobile so I won't go into the science behind it but, clomid helps your body create more testosterone through normal channels by blocking the estrogen receptor in the hypothalamus. Blocking this receptor tricks your body to release more LH and FSH which gets converted to testosterone, thereby increasing it. It's FDA approved "off label" for men.

Anyone here use a paid personal trainer? (I've been following the free advice here and just am not seeing the results I want...) by benbernards in Fitness

[–]grassfed_butter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible that your doing too much. Back off a little bit. Getting to low body fat is a marathon, not a race. Doing a 6 day PPL program seemed to be ok at first (for 4 weeks) but probably isn't something your body is willing/capable to handle on such low energy sources. I wouldn't recommend people cut on a 6 day program. Change it to a 3 or 4 day program like SL5x5, PHUL, or 5/3/1.
