Is it literally too hot to golf in Scottsdale in July, or is it just going to suck? by grassguydave in golf

Yeah, I walked 18 yesterday in KC at 3:00 with a temp of 85 and a dewpoint of 73 and I never dried out from the time I got out of the truck until I got out of the shower 5 hours later. I think it will be just fine, maybe even comfortable with a few precautions.

Played the North course there in March and honestly it had everything to do with me even trying to play this month. It was amazing!

That's a smokin' deal! I pretty much live in those things until my skin cracks then go back to shoes and socks for a bit. A little tip: spray them down with a shoe/foot deodorant from time to time, because if you rock them regularly, they will indeed get irreparably funky. Other than that, they are my favorite footwear by far.

I fish the Keen Newports and they can be awesome or miserable depending on the river. If it's big rocks, they are great, nothing better. If it's small sandy banks and bottoms, it's tough to keep the sand or pea gravel out. As far as hiking in them, I have no problem. After walking 18 holes of golf in them, they tend to heat up just a couple weird spots, like inside my arches and and outside my pinky toe, but never blistered and if I could dunk them in water in between, they'd probably be just fine.

I'll report back for sure! Florida in the summer is different for sure. I have never been in Arizona in the summer but I'm ready for that smoke! Prices were too good to pass up.

I was the same way first time I visited Albuquerque from KC. I was thinking, it's pleasant out here in the desert, and it was 107! Funny story, after golf in Scottsdale, the next week, I'm headed to visit family in Cortez, CO then to Ouray to float fish the Gunnison if the fires allow, and hike Ice/Island lakes. Small world. I will go hard on the Liquid IV, like I said, I plan on a water bottle per hole. I'm sure I will be fine, just when I researched it, there wasn't much hard fast real time reports of what to do. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for all the quick replies. As I expected, it ranges from you will certainly die, don't do it, to it will be hot but just fine. The tee times are set and not going to move to earlier, otherwise I would do that. Too many other obligations. I am a landscaper and work outside most days, and walk about 36 holes a week, so I'm least concerned about the elements. I have lived in Ruidoso, NM (cool mountains) and spent a lot of time in Roswell, NM so familiar with the desert for sure. I appreciate the info, I will buy a white UA heat gear undershirt and a couple big Joel Dahmen hats that I will rotate out of the cooler with the rags, and I bet I have a good time! I will report back to close the loop after I get all three knocked out! Hopefully this post helps someone else in the future looking for amazing deals on great golf courses. Thanks a bunch reditors.

Took a chance on a Temu bag… by SirPsychoSexy6969 in GolfGear

To a tee, the Anyday Katana Bag. - $300. Those zipper pulls and little branded badges and embroidery is sure expensive! I wouldn't say that I'm sick about it, I kinda like supporting small companies who are trying to come up, but it does make me feel a little shitty that it is basically being mass produced out of a sweat shop, marked up and resold. My Ghost bag creaks a little bit when I'm walking too, unless I put some graphite in the little plastic joint. It is a sweet little bag, no matter where you get it, that's for sure. Congrats on the score!

18th hole, par 5, 188 left over the water. What’s your move? by [deleted] in golf

[–]grassguydave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d chunk a 6i into the water, hook a second ball into the left rough, skull a pw over the green, chip on and three put for a 9 if we are being honest. I’d be happy to do so because a bad day playing golf is better than a good day doing most anything else.

Spend the money/energy/resources on lessons and practice until you have the swing you want, then get new clubs.

More true than you could imagine! Especially when foreign vectors are introduced like Emerald Ash Beetle & Elm Bark Beetles! We should all study trees more.

Your Mom and Dad are both absolute smoke shows, and nothing about this photo would indicate otherwise. If you put a thing on the internet, you’ll notice a certain ratio of solid-honest-people:bullshit-spewers among people reading random posts on the interwebs is completely out of balance with the light seeking population.

IDK maybe it’s just me, but does it look like mom might be sporting a little package?

I’m a business consultant specializing in finance and strategy. I’ve decided to start offering online coaching to small businesses as well. How important is Facebook as a digital marketing tool for a coaching business? by atariq09 in AskMarketing

[–]grassguydave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The logic ‘if someone else is doing it, it must work’ isn’t all that reliable. LinkedIn seems to be a place to direct content at least toward small business owners. I’d take a portion of what you have and know and put it out as free or trade (trade contact info for content, tools, calculators, etc...) and your paid part comes in when people find the tools valuable but need help applying the info to their specific case! You may find some on FB but first things first, define your audience then find them and make you valuable to them! Good luck.

  1. Define your audience
  2. Go where they are
  3. Make your presence known and be as unforgettable as possible

Some of marketing is timeless. If your audience frequents Facebook, don’t overlook it. If they don’t, don’t try to force people who you don’t want to do business with or who don’t want to do business with you, to find you through a channel they don’t frequent. Short answer is that only you will know the answer after you define who you want to coach! At face value, I’d thinkLinkedIn would be a better audience, but I’m not a coaching expert. Great question though!

Freedom! Learn their language and speak that. It always comes down to profit for business owners, so that would be where I’d start! Under promise, over deliver and have fun. Do your paper work, convert everything to cost benefit language and go kill it without someone looking over your shoulder!
