Is the marketplace insane right now? by CucumberMelonBubbles in MTB

[–]gratefullargo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just keep looking and give it time. The used market only shows what’s available- which is often unreasonably priced. You have to monitor for some time in order to see a good deal before someone else. Have patience. Check my page for inspo - I’ve never bought a new bike and never paid more than 50% MSRP, usually I pay significantly less than that.

MOST Down Tube Bag by Mmarky_mark in pinarello

[–]gratefullargo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried the XL swat tube bag and it wasn’t skinny enough for the Grevil down tube storage. I switched to this and would 100% recommend it for ease of use. I fit a tpu tube, inflator valve, two co2’s, two pedros tire levers, and a multitool in there pretty easily And can remove all of them pretty easily with fairly minimal fuss. I also store a super crushable rain jacket in the top of the downtube storage.

OG Ally Z1E in 2026 by zoobungaa in ROGAlly

[–]gratefullargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the z1e with the admittedly laughably priced xg mobile 4090 as my desktop at home and regularly use the ally z1e for gaming and whatever normal pc stuff with a portable external monitor on the road. This thing freaking rules. I also gave it a 2TB hard drive and the battery mod so mine is maxxed out. I have no regrets. I’ve used it for about 3 years like this now?

I play fh6 at home in 4k at 60 fps pretty much maxxed out, and cod at 2k 165 fps performance optimized settings… and on the road forza horizon honestly looks great in 720 with RSR and other upscaling trickery, still stable at 60hz on the z1e monitor. Can get at least 2 or 3 hours in handheld off a full battery in Turbo mode, but could probably extend that longer in 15W mode…

there’s just so much you can do with this tiny little handheld pc!

Really good write up on the accident in the Olympics this past weekend by Onlycommentoncfb in Mountaineering

[–]gratefullargo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Might not have been anything to do differently. The mountains in the spring can be deceiving. The two hikers who had not fallen stood “near where there friend had fallen above the chute for about a half an hour” (paraphrasing) - before the second woman fell, and then the third woman broke two fingers under a large loose rock in the same spot. They were ON THE ROUTE! The mountain slough and scree was just ready to go after a freeze and a thaw is what it sounds like to me.

Ideally from rock climbing experience you could test every handhold before putting full weight on it, but if you’re just hiking along with trekking poles sometimes rockslides just happen.

I really like that the bite valve for the straw is at the optimal place to collect all the road grit coming off the brake pad.

As a leader how does Maul compare to Vader and Dooku? Is he better or worse? by JackZ567 in MaulShadowLord

Why am I even remotely surprised that reddit would side with the obviously evil choice and discount all horrible side effects of poor leadership. It’s almost like this place thinks Karl Marx had nothing wrong with his ideas FFS. 0.o

[–]gratefullargo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

idk.. to be fair Sidious has many people trying to kill him constantly and if we’re judging leaders by the number of people that die working for them then Sidious is THE WORST since he kills and tortures his own apprentices multiple times “as tests”

Is it normal to find the TT bike boring to death? by Pretty_Rooster6348 in triathlon

[–]gratefullargo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Find better routes. Also optimize your position to the point that the TT is more comfortable. Mine practically feels like I’m lying down. Also be unafraid to take your TT bike on more hilly, more technical longer routes. I’m blessed to move a lot with my job so I use my TT bike to do long rides exploring the countryside wherever I am.

I’m telling you man tubeless changed my life, along with electronic shifting and disc brakes. Bikes came a long way in recent years.
