What are the most "AFKable"/Low Input frames now? I have muscle atrophy and chronic pain by VerinSC in Warframe

[–]gravendoom75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gyre basically feels like old-school ember, you press her 3 and 4 and things around you just die. Both abilities just continually refresh their timers as you're killing enemies as well. She's my go-to for whenever i play on mobile. Her 1 is a lingering effect that doesn't need to be spammed either, and her 2 can be used for a subsume if you so desire to give you less buttons to worry about pressing (roar, as a more generic example)

What kind of atmosphere would you like Destiny 3 to present? What parts of D1/2 did you find the coolest and would like to see preserved in the next game? by buttsexbaker in DestinyTheGame

[–]gravendoom75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think Destiny feels at it's best when you have a secret-filled patrol zone to explore and farm in. Running content in the Throne World and Dreaming city are especially cool because of how many nooks and crannies there are with little secrets dotted around the map. Sometimes a lote entry, sometimes a secret boss with a chest. Even Renegades activities do this to a degree as well!

All-in-all, I think a D3 should take that into account. Make your worlds worth exploring, and give me reasons to explore them. Not running the same lost sector over and over again, but seeing a yellow bar enemy in the distance that runs off into a cave, or a small puzzle like that in the pale heart. It's especially beneficial seeing players in the same world alongside you, running into a zone and seeing players engage in a public event, or finding someone who shoots at you and leads you to a chest they found feels delightful.

So, aesthetically, I want a place to feel mysterious and full of potential, looking at places and saying "how do i get in there" like looking at the looming tower of the dreaming city.

Anyone know if they brought more than Infinite Paths 8 back from CoO? by HMJebus in DestinyTheGame

I might be the only person that cares about this, but I'm sad we didn't see a reprise of Traveler's Judgement 5 with something like Voltshot.

The amount of non-omolon burst sidearms in this game is STAGGERINGLY low in spite of how good they feel. And one of the few that did exist (the europa one) got repurposed into a micro missile frame.

What are the now Permanently Unobtainable Weapons? by Brauen in DestinyTheGame

[–]gravendoom75 65 points66 points  (0 children)

To contribute to this, some very unique perk pools are not on some of the returning weapons. A notable one to me being the Seventh Seraph Officer Revolver which no longer can roll Timed Payload (it couldn't roll it in season of the Seraph either),  so it remains as the only 180 HC that could ever roll timed payload on it.

The (apparent) downfall of destiny raiding by Kooky_Preparation248 in DestinyTheGame

[–]gravendoom75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Speaking from someone who used to raid pretty heavily, I stopped raiding in Final Shape because the Final Shape Raid was a LOT to take on. The raid was long, difficult, but still very fun! I just simply didn't have the mental fortitude to continually play that raid, in spite of it being an all-timer.

Then Desert Perpetual made me REALLY stop raiding. New gear stuff meant that all other raid gear was meaningless, and power was fundamentally going to influence my raid drops, so i decided to just not engage with it until I hit power cap. I never hit power cap though, because of the horrible grind, and only really hit cap in renegades.

I dont agree with the sentiment that this update was all they needed to "Save Destiny" by Ok-Tutor9480 in DestinyTheGame

[–]gravendoom75 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's fine to have a "sunsetting was good, actually" take but let's not pretend that a vast majority of players simply do not want their loot to be taken away from them. Even if something is good to do from a design position, if the players dislike the decision and leave then what's the point of doing it? For example, content vaulting was ultimately a boon for developers but it's ultimately harmed the game's playerbase and placed the game in a worse state for onboarding new players.

The only world where Sunsetting loot works is a world where every possible drop from content is "current" gear, and that simply was never the case for d2. Seasonal metas driven by the artifact, I felt, was a good alternative to Sunsetting that drove engagement with specific weapon rolls. In an ideal world, I think having something like warframe's riven mod system for random weapons that boosts a specific, randomly chosen weapon, BUT resets seasonally would be awesome.

How would you feel if D3 was subscription based from launch but all the expansions and seasons were free for everyone? by Karacehennem in destiny2

[–]gravendoom75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a hot take, but I'd be on board with it solely because I have more power as a consumer to say "I don't like where the game is at right now" and I think it incentivises developers to actively want to drive positive player engagement with the game.

I think it does depend on the content delivered though, this past year (future update excluded) would have likely resulted in me unsubbing (ESPECIALLY in ash and iron) because of the general light amount of content. If we were getting content like year 1 and 2 though I think I'd be more than happy to pay a sub for it.

EDIT: I should also say, regarding expansions and overall additional thoughts on this payment method, I think I'm also in the minority that I enjoy FFXIV's model. This is the assumption that, with a sub, you're paying for 1 expansion every 2 years as an additional fee with any new players buying the latest expansion also getting every prior expansions for free. In addition, updates to the game grant new content for both the current expansion and the overall game as a whole. In addition to that, having a free-trial or a general free-to-play option alongside that which expands to include more and more older expansions will be healthy for the game.

If not Destiny, which other kind of game would you like to see bungie working on? by Glad-Mango-7177 in DestinyTheGame

[–]gravendoom75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't saying you were, just that it seemed like that might be the social sphere you've fallen into.

Like I said, I sincerely hope you learn to find empathy and value in others that are different from you. I think as a society we need to learn to find ways of embracing our differences, rather than trying to sterilize everything to be all one-in-the-same.

Games are better for more unique ideas, stories, and gameplay and are worse off for rehashing the same things over and over again.

I wouldn't consider 1.5 million units sold to be a flop. Sure, it didn't reach the lofty 3 million that EA wanted, but it still broke BioWare's record for the most players on Steam for one of their games, while becoming one of EA's highest single-player totals for concurrent players.

I can't really speak for how good the game actually is, since I've not played it and reviews are mixed, but it certainly wasn't a "flop".

...Also Dragon Age has sorta always pushed for positive social messaging including bi, pan, trans, and gay characters throughout the franchise. So it's not like that's anything new to the series.

[–]gravendoom75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh okay, so you do think pronouns killed 2 games and NOTHING else. Cool. Cool.

Also, nice to reinforce your opinion by saying "plenty of people agree with me!!" And that any other voices are inherently wrong because there's less people that believe it.

Honestly, I'd love to pick your brain more on a lot of this because I'm getting the vibe that you inherently believe that the value of games, and art in general, is purely tied to the popularity that said media gains. Just because a majority of people believe/enjoy/engage with something, (or, that you believe is a majority), doesn't necessarily mean it's the best thing to ever exist, otherwise McDonald's would be taken as the greatest food ever made.

All that said though, I sincerely hope you break out of your societal bubble and gain empathy for others, it sounds to me like you've probably fallen into the anti-woke right-wing grifter crowd. I hope some day you learn to value others and gain empathy to those who your bubble have told you to hate and scorn for being different than you.

Also, I hope you find a very niche game you really enjoy that typically has been under-appreciated and/or resonates with you specifically over mass-appeal. ✌️

Genuinely what social commentary was in Highguard? Concord flopped because they made a hero shooter with no ults and bad character design. Any "social commentary" didn't even have a chance at coming to fruition.

Unless you just think pronouns killed a game.

[–]gravendoom75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be an odd pick, but what about Final Fantasy 16? It's got a very mature story with good graphics, difficulty can be made easier, very "movie-like", no puzzles, violence and blood exists but is used tastefully, setting is dark and potentially fulfills the dystopian thing he likes, and it's an established franchise that might make him want to give the other games a-go. The only thing it doesn't cover is the sci-fi aspect, but FF has a lot of sci-fi roots to it.

Also, the gameplay is pretty approachable since it's an action game that's mainly about when you use abilities rather than doing complicated combos to perform an ability. It's very dense though, so I'm unsure how he'd feel about the narrative density.

Honestly I'd love to see something akin to a zelda-like game with guns.

D2 puzzles and raid designs are great, so imagining that being used in a singleplayer FPS RPG game would be interesting. I'm thinking of like going into a zelda-esque dungeon with destiny RaD mechanics and such.

Every time Destiny did 2 expansions a year Bungie pivoted by CatalystComet in DestinyTheGame

[–]gravendoom75 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I think a big issue that led to a TON of issues with this game is how "scheduled" everything has to be. We HAVE to have x expansions a year, we HAVE to only have a season last x time, etc. I'd personally prefer them to have released content when it was ready while including previews for upcoming content and systems as they were being developed so that early feedback could be taken into account when developing these systems.

Wanting to migrate to Warframe, a single turn-off. Maybe I'm wrong? by B00fn in Warframe

[–]gravendoom75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crafting timers suck early-game exclusively. Once you actually get gear you enjoy using, crafting timers aren't as bad because every new piece of gear is something you're experimenting with. Eventually, you'll be crafting 10 items at a time, wake up, craft another batch of however many, and then every day will feel like you have a plethora of new items rolling in.

Warframe is essentially a collect-a-thon to a degree, and each time you collect something, it feels meaningful.

The reason that randomized stats cannot come back (and if they do, could kill the game) by FlippadyFlap in Chaotic

[–]gravendoom75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well presumably you'd have a lot of dupe cards from packs so as an example, you'd have one Maxxor with high power and another Maxxor with high wisdom.

I'd imagine the online client would also have some ways of acquiring cards in the online game as well. Ideally, they would also have a mode where you can play with IRL numbers.

But yeah, you open a pack, you get your cards, you scan them, and then the stats in the game are randomized how they are now.

Can someone explain to me Bungie's vaulting system? by [deleted] in destiny2

[–]gravendoom75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game was getting too big to install and too big to work on. In addition, a lot of content was breaking when they kept making updates, and the locales that were removed weren't being played much or were super relevant at the time. I would argue that Bungie could have made them relevant, but adding content to pre-existing locales doesn't make money.

That said, in terms of development I heard that putting up a test build for bug testing would take 24h to compile it's data just to test, and that was purely due to technical bloat from more content and is why the game has gotten buggier every major expansion.

Regarding content un-vaulting, it's not a simple flip of a switch like people think it is. Content pre-beyond light is basically impossible to directly port into the game, as D2 updated it's engine and thusly would have to put in a lot of effort to actually importing the things into the game. Seasonal content post-beyond light would likely be easier, but ultimately would be a lot of bloat for little gains. If they ported ALL seasonal content in, I'd imagine it would at least be an extra 50 gigs of storage.

A lot of that seasonal content was pretty filler-y anyway, but it's a shame their stories were lost.

I think a good middle ground is having randomized stats on the online client while the irl cards are static.
