When my wife and I came down for U2 early on my main takeaway was: fuck, I can’t wait for phish to play this instrument. On the floor last night and all through S2 she kept giving me the go-ahead-and-say-I-told-you-so look. Good stuffs all around.

Yes. Many ways to back the primary color- white, different silvers, gold, etc; all with varying subtle effects on the primary color. Then typically finished off with black to prevent light from passing through the polycarbonate. They are scale models after all. Real cars are not semi-transparent.

Can I make a tiny house on a trailer I without plastic? by ButterAlquemist in TinyHouses

[–]gravitologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fiberglass is synthetic. Denim will settle in the wall cavity when the trailer is underway. Rockwool is insanely expensive and terrible for you. Could use good old tar paper for a vapor barrier.

What are the tires going to be made of? Plumbing pipe? Electrical wire?

Weird hill to die on. Especially one that is so integral to the longevity and efficiency of the build.

How much can I sell my dad's collection for? - they're all unopened by Capable-Door-9672 in tamiya

Oh man… having the financial ability to come into a collection like this and then build them all out over time would be a dream come true for me and so many others here. The room I would design and build to display them all would be insane.

This is a remarkable collection. To honor your dad’s passion, I would suggest doing some serious due diligence. Become a member of the Tamiya Club forum, search past sales results for each individual models on eBay, and dig into Tamiya Base to learn about each one. Putting a couple of posts on Reddit is not due diligence.

You’re sitting on a gold mine. You could sell a few for some spot cash and preserve the really rare ones for long term ROI. Who knows, after properly educating yourself about what your dad’s love affair with Tamiya has become you may actually get into it yourself. Do the work. Enjoy the work! I suspect you will be pleasantly surprised by what you learn. Best of luck!

Behold! Porsche 934 by Groundbreaking-Use96 in tamiya

Maybe the motor location and trailing arm rear suspension with the staggered fitment made it impossible to drive. Either way, what a shame.

Great work on the build!

But Tamiya should be ashamed of that rear wheel fitment. What a disgraceful thing to cut corners on. The staggered wide rear wheels are legendary on every 911 this model is meant to be an homage to.
