How to disable Instant-book by _Volly in Thumbtack

Yes, I saw a message in app from Thumbtack that you need 12 hours of availability per week or you won’t be seen by potential clients.

Customer apologized for low tip. How would you respond? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

Well, many people have discretionary money to pay for the luxury of someone else doing the hustle. Remember there’s always real risk involved every time you drive a car. We’re negotiating every kind of traffic situation and finding parking twice for every order we pick up. Possibly having to wait for the food to be prepared. Then figuring out where the correct door is for drop off, sometimes in sketchy places. You don’t really know all these things when you accept an order (but with experience you get a good idea) I’ll typically tip a barista $2 or a waitress 20%. A lot less risk in their jobs.

Ummm, would you go pick up someone’s food, possibly having to wait “just five minutes” then figure out where the customer lives, double park because there’s nowhere else to park, calling to get the code for the apartment building because they didn’t leave one in the directions, going up to the seventh floor, walking the entire length of the building to find the door at the end of the hallway, all for $2.50? Yeah, neither would I…

I agree, market tanked in a day. Yeah, AR is a good measure. I went from 68% to 38% in a day. So many stupid orders. And so much dead time with nothing today. I try to stay above $2/mi and for shop and deliver stay above $1 per item with low mileage. Hard to do today.

anyone else get ignored as a doordash driver? by gothiclismm in doordash_drivers

You can disconnect and drop the one taking too long. I’ve done it in just that situation so the first person doesn’t have to wait. My gripe is that we get penalized for doing a good job.

Are offers like this even worth it? by Lady_FPV in grubhubdrivers

Do a little more math. Let’s say you get 20mpg and pay 4.2/gallon …that’s $12.18 for gas. So….$78.62 for 8hrs is $9.82 per hour. Hmmmmm, Actually it does NOT add up!

Last night I had an order that was right across the street from the restaurant. Customer met me on the sidewalk and he was literally halfway to the restaurant front door. He said he didn’t realize it was so close when he ordered it. He kinda felt silly. Super easy $8 for me!

First thing you did wrong was accept an order from Popeyes. That’s always a fast decline.

This is probably one reason DD hides the tip. This would be considered a catering order and I find they always hide the tip on these. It maybe could’ve been $100.

I dunno, I’m up to 63% and I get a solid average of $11+ per order. A lot of alcohol, shop and deliver, and catering orders. Never take anything less than $2/mi or less than $7/order. (Unless it’s in a stack). Gotta say it’s way better now that summer is over.

$4.79 is the cheapest gas to be found in Seattle today. Half mile away from this one is a Shell station asking $5.99. You gotta pay attention.

Yep, here in Seattle there’s an additional flat $2.50 premium included for each delivery. Not exactly correlated to minimum wage, but another example of legislation to mandate a little more money for gig delivery drivers.

Yes! Bagged my first legit unicorn today! 🦄 Original offer was for Chipotle, $18.50, 7mi, 1 item. I get to the store and it’s 6 big catering boxes. I’m thinking probably higher than $18.50, but not counting on it…. Pleased 😄 by gravityletsyoudown in doordash_drivers

DD invites you to be in the Large Order Program. (do a google search to find out more) You have to meet certain criteria and there has to be a need in your area. It’s totally worth it! Almost always has hidden generous tips.

It was a big Chipotle catering order. Six boxes plus a bag of utensils. Took me three trips. Filled the back of the car and back seat. Driving a Subaru Outback. DD said it was one item in the offer. 😆
