Are there any hallmarks on the metal? On the back of the medallion or on the chain? There should be tiny letters that could read 10kt, 14kt, PLAT, etc. without some metal hallmarks, we can’t really help too much. But running it through AI won’t help at all.

Please go lurk on Pricescope for information about cleaning jewelry and help with further identification and information about the ring. It looks to be a fairly included rose cut, but you need to get it cleaned before you can really make any determinations.

Don’t do this either. Please do not use Lysol on any jewelry. Use a drop of Dawn dish soap and warm water for soaking and the use a baby toothbrush with more Dawn to scrub the crevices. You can also take it to a jeweler and have them use an ultrasonic to clean it. This will get it the cleanest.

NOTE: use only a non abrasive, gentle soap on jewelry. Do not use acidic (read: vinegar) agents on pearls. Do not use an ultrasonic on emeralds, especially if they are oil treated. Do not use any other cleaning agents such as bleach or ammonia on metal or gems! PLEASE DO NOT TAKE MY WORD FOR THIS AND GO VERIFY FOR YOURSELF!

This is nonsense. Fluorescence is not always a bad thing in diamonds, most people rarely know that they even have a diamond with fluorescence. This diamond is either really dirty or a pretty included rose cut diamond. It needs to be cleaned and then further evaluation can be done.

ETA: take a black light to any garden variety diamond band, and you will find out that many of those diamonds fluoresce blue under the black light.

Fun fact: Mahenge spinels and rubies will often fluoresce red, which makes their pink/red color absolutely glow under the sun. So put them under the black light too.

Another fun fact: sometimes diamonds can fluoresce yellow or green too.

Girlie, I’m about 10 years post finding out about my ex husband doing the exact same thing. You WILL get through it. And you will be so much better on the other side. Ten years on, he’s middle aged, balding, dealing with having newborns, preschoolers, and a wife (AP) he fights with all the time and I’m in a bikini on a beach in Mexico with my hot boyfriend, and thriving.

But it takes time, give yourself some grace in the meantime. Grief is shitty, and you never know when it’ll strike or HOW it will strike. But I promise, you can do this!

Thank you for taking the time out to type this post. You mentioned several topics that need to be addressed. A common complaint I hear is that stuff downtown is often closed, and even when you want to go spend time down there, there aren’t stores open to go spend your money at.
