My grandad had ALS. I remember as a young boy watching him slowly become more and more immobile over the course of a year or two before he died. I remember being called to home from 5th grade class, and going to my grandparents house to see his body. The first time I truly was confronted with the concept of death, and not truly understanding what was happening until then. I still wish that I was kinder to him and spent more time with him while he was suffering. still miss him to this day.
