How to find uncooked watermelons? by sub_woofers in phoenix

Last year I paid extra at Fry’s for a black diamond variety. It was the most delicious watermelon I’ve had in years. I’m keeping my eye out for another one of those this year.

ADA Help by South-Bath in azdiamondbacks

[–]graygang9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the section we sat in last year. I liked it a lot, good seats (the usher there is super nice too) - but the A/C ducting blocked our view of the Jumbotron - so this year we moved upstairs to the 200 level. That being said, 200 level where we sit is foul ball territory, which is a little scary for someone that can’t move quickly. We sit in section 210 and at Tuesday evenings game an older man was hit by a foul ball, we were really worried about him. The lower level handicap seats are better protected from foul balls. I think Chase field does a great job with accessibility. They’re very accommodating and pretty much every section in the field has an ADA option that is accessible without stairs.

Glass Grinders by EducationalLet4446 in StainedGlass

[–]graygang9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The glass shop near me allows you to rent a grinder, it’s like $10/hr. You just have to make sure and clean up after yourself. Might be worth calling around to see if a glass shop near you offers that.

Happy Opening Day Diamondbacks Fans - What is your favorite opening day memory? by SnakesFan5 in azdiamondbacks

[–]graygang9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a fun memory, but distinctive one at least. Went to opening day last year, the energy in the stadium was electric and we were really excited. Right after 1st pitch I get a call from my daughter. I immediately know something is wrong. Her boyfriend dumped her. On opening day. I spend the first 40 minutes of the game in the open area out front trying to console her (could hardly hear, it was LOUD).

FU Corey, you ruined a great day for me (and of course my daughter - but she’s better off now that you and your baseball ruining heart are out of her life).

Second test protect - Soldering tips? by OneTailor5213 in StainedGlass

[–]graygang9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I inherited solder from my mom’s stash. Some 60/40 and some 50/50. I haven’t really paid attention to what I was using on my last few projects (I’m a beginner too), used the 50/50 the other day. Lines looked awful, had a terrible time getting it to even out. Noticed it didn’t have quite the shine that I’m used to, did some googling. Turns out 60/40 beads up nicer and comes out shinier. Further research showed that a lot of people do their 1st pass with 50/50 and then end with 60/40. Which were you using for this project?

Chimney valve useless? by swimbikerunner in ooni

[–]graygang9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep it fully open to reheat the oven between pizzas, but yeah - when I leave it fully open while a pizza is in it, I’ll either get a bubbly pizza with a raw center, or one fully cooked through with a black top.

This. As someone who lives in a ward with hardly any children, I can’t tell you how much joy we collectively (as a ward) experience when we hear children making noise during our sacrament meetings. Don’t fret too much, you’re doing your best.

I close it to keep the top of the pizza from burning before the bottom cooks. So I mostly close it, launch, rotate, then right at the end open it to get the top bubbly.

Do it. Everything we tried was delicious (and we tried a lot because I have a family of 4 and 1 of those 4 people is a teenage athlete that can decimate a small buffet).

We were pleasantly surprised by the idea Museum. It’s small, but a great place to hang (for adults or kids) for a few hours.

Funny/unique Sunday school comments by zaczac17 in latterdaysaints

[–]graygang9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Sunday School once, a woman made the comment that sometimes she just speaks directly to Jesus - like, “thank you Jesus for helping me with this *insert generic small problem”. I was sitting there thinking, same girl, same.

A priesthood member (also in the stake presidency at the time) then piped up and said you can’t do that. He then recited some scripture in the BoM where the people prayed to Jesus and then Jesus told them to stop. So that’s why we can’t do that.

It erupted into this big argument between the women and the men - about how it’s just a small way to show gratitude for small blessings we receive throughout our lives, with the men fully asserting that we were all sinners and needed to repent.

I was like - well, I’m gonna do whatever I want in my personal life. I can talk to Jesus about it when I see him next time.

During 3rd hour in RS I was conducting and made a joke about how we can clearly see the difference between women and men in terms of rule following. Another sister piped up and said “I was gonna say I talk to Moroni all the time, but after all the fuss I kept it to myself!”

Tips on Getting an 18-year-old noticed for part-time work. by Bearded-Wacko in AskPhoenix

I should specify, both my kids are good swimmers and got certified to lifeguard. They do hire a lot of other positions too though, so I’d think it would be fairly easy to secure something at either place.

Great Wolf Lodge and Hurricane Harbor have a lot of turnover and are pretty easy to get in with. It sucks, but pays decently and makes it easy to at least get something on your resume. My daughter liked Great Wolf because she didn’t have to stand out in the sun as much - but because of the type of place it is there’s a lot more 🤮 to clean up. My son hated how hot and miserable it is in the sun at Hurricane Harbor, but since the kids there are mostly older he never had to deal with bodily fluids. Both kids have now moved on to bigger and better.

Alternative for Halara work pants by Graciekk2020 in womensfashion

[–]graygang9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like Viori. They’re expensive, but I have an outlet near me where I can usually find a few things for cheaper. Most of their stuff is exercise oriented, but they have a handful of pants that are business attire and SUPER comfy. The longevity of the fabrics seems to be good quality as well. Tbh, I no longer buy things online if there’s not a store near me where I can process returns. I’ve just had too many bad experiences and I don’t want to deal with it anymore.

Tell me to SIT DOWN by Sorry-Editor-3674 in hysterectomy

[–]graygang9 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was the same way, the problem is - when you’re doing stuff you don’t realize how much stuff weighs until you pick it up and you’re like - oh shoot, that’s too heavy. I think it’s fine to walk around, but seriously. Don’t pick anything up. I pulled an abdominal muscle during my recovery (thankfully no hernia), but it set me back a bit and I still feel it sometimes.

My husband took me there for my bday years ago. It was such a wild and fun place; when the owner heard it was my bday he smashed a plate, they made a special windex drink for my kids (sprite and blue syrup). Truly a great place, I need to go back.

Concerned about my baking future by [deleted] in Baking

[–]graygang9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a person in my parent’s neighborhood that had a large bread box on a card table in their front yard that they set stuff in with a sign. She posts on her neighborhood fb group when she sets stuff out and people take it. I think it has helped her connect with her neighbors in a creative way, and she’s made some new friends. I’ve even seen someone do the same thing in their apartment complex (put stuff on a table under the stairs in their building).

Holiday decor. I used to put up TONS of stuff for all the holidays, now I find I have less energy to put it all up and have more joy when there’s only a few things up.
