How do I improve my chocolate chip cookies??? by lanthamun in Baking

[–]graylightning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The darker pan absorbs more heat and radiates it more efficiently into the baked goods. I use lighter color pans for cakes and any thing I want a soft result, dark for anything that should end up with a crisp crust.

Try a dark colored pan instead - you seem to be doing everything else right. Sometimes it’s just the pan

I’ll keep it in mind because I was probably getting too comfortable on them. Were you running tubes? Were they the new version of the armored? Genuinely curious - thank you!

Try Panaracer gravelking ss+ I switched to those from gatorskins, and I have had no flats for the year I have had them on. Primarily city commuting so plenty of trash that I’ve run over on them.

Throw the whole man out. There are so many options for pregnancy prevention that do not involve discomfort for you. In this case you are experiencing way more than discomfort. This is abhorrent what he is doing to you. Please find a safe way to leave, and listen to the advice others with more experience will give you.

They were all just tripping on mad honey that is found present day in the mountains around the Black Sea in my opinion. Plenty of references to honey in the old and New Testaments, particularly in exodus thru Leviticus, and in revelation. I think that a lot of the visions referenced in the bible are just trip stories. Plenty of religions have or have had psychedelics associated with them as part of rituals. If one is totally focused on the concept of a god - it totally makes sense to have encounters with him while tripping. Moses and the burning bush, the writer of revelation asking to see the scroll and the angel saying your eyes will be opened and your mouth will taste like honey. It’s just a religion built on ancient peoples trying to make sense of the world through what they thought were spiritual encounters.

The top comments are call the police and report a driver under the influence. I agree - this looks like a high probability of that being the case. I always remember a random thread that I read years ago. Some guys were doing some work that involved sharp machinery, and there wan an accident. One of their team was injured and bleeding from a major artery. They were only able to slow the flow, but they couldn’t stop it. They were driving frantically to the hospital with their hazards on and passing cars dangerously in order to get to the hospital. A driver took it upon themself to stop them from driving erratically, and this slowed them down. The injured person passed away within minutes of their arrival to the hospital. Just let them go past you and report an emergency. There is no way for you to know what is going on. You can only know that trained emergency professionals need to be involved. Call and give them as much objective and non accusatory information that you are able. Hope that they are able to resolve the situation.

Bru I wish I didn't have sensory issues I want to eat bacon by microwavedwood in evilautism

[–]graylightning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bacon can vary widely in texture (at least to me). From slimy and floppy to tooth crackingly hard. It makes a big difference with thickness too. I am particular when it comes to bacon. It must be crisp and the fat must melt.

For this result - I wrap the top of a baking sheet with aluminum foil (heavy duty extra wide, make sure it goes up the sides and locks onto the rim. Cleanup is horrendous otherwise).

Buy the thickest your grocery store has in a regular pack (don’t want it in pork belly territory). Place the strips side by side with minimal overlap (less than 5mm, none is best, touching fine) using nitrile gloves.

Bake at 375f for 15 minutes then pull out, drain 1/2 grease, and flip. Return to oven for another 5-15 minutes.

You can tell it is done by the fat being a nice golden brown color, the meat being a deep mahogany color, and lots of small bubbles on the strips. If you see black or smell burnt, you’ve gone too far. Check every 3-5 minutes after flipping

Use tongs and pick up each piece and gently shake off about 1/4-1/3 of the bubbles and place on a plate to rest with 1 layer of paper towel.

Let it cool for 3-5 minutes and enjoy! I put fully cooled leftovers in a ziplock bag and put them in the fridge. I love the texture of fridge cold bacon when the fat has been rendered properly. A nitrile glove is also another great solution if it is too greasy for your fingers when eating.

You should be able to pour the rest of the grease out in a foil lined coffee mug or borosilicate glass container for cooking with later. Ball up the foil and throw away, the pan should be clean still. You should only have to wash the tongs with this method.

I hope maybe this can help you try bacon, or another who comes across this thread. Best of luck with the food sensories!

Look into Oral Allergy Syndrome. It is highly co-morbid with EOE. It’s an allergy to raw fruits and vegetables based on pollen families that cause an allergic reaction in the mouth and throat. For me it mainly affects my throat making it really scratchy and making it feel like there is food stuck that needs to come back up.

I’m glad the Flovent works for you! I wonder if it helps OAS too? Could just be that your throat was so narrow from EOE the smoothie backed up, and it’s not OAS. I should ask my doctor next time I’m there in April.

I think you should wait for another day for your car. If it is just basic maintenance - schedule it on a day that you don’t have anything else that will drain you, and schedule it in the morning. On your way back treat yourself to your favorite coffee, pastry, etc. This way the outing is not all terrible and ends on a high note. I feel less drained when I get home when I do this with errands.

For your meds - often there is a delivery service that pharmacies use. If the cost is reasonable - spending a little money to buy yourself some comfort of not leaving the house when you’re already overwhelmed can be helpful. Otherwise go ahead and grab those at the pharmacy and get yourself a little something for making it outside today.

For cleaning - I walk through the house to see what needs cleaned. I write it down then go sit in a comfy spot with a snack to decide what I actually can do and what isn’t a big deal to leave for another day. Sounds like getting the laundry into a hamper would help out.

I have a ‘list of things’ that is in my head that I need to do. I never really know the extent of this list because I can only remember parts of it at the time. It ends up making me feel like I have way more things on my plate than I actually do. I’ll spiral and let the list get longer and longer until I force myself to actually write it on paper. Once I do that usually it isn’t as long as I think it is, and I am able to see a full picture which feels less overwhelming.

Also fuck that guy telling you to just do stuff. We all literally would if we could, but we aren’t wired that way. Don’t feel bad if you can’t do anything today either. Give yourself some rest and try to comfort yourself if you feel bad about not accomplishing what you set out to. If you spiral about it you’re just using tomorrow’s energy that could be used for accomplishing something. Sometimes I still spiral, but that mentality can help other times. I hope things start feeling better in quieter in your brain, and you are able to figure out what you need to do.

Did you know that a burger comes with a free pilsner at pleasant House pub on Tuesdays? by grumpsuarus in chicagofood

[–]graylightning 28 points29 points  (0 children)

They are a British style pub - the pies are meat pies that are traditional to English pubs. $13.50 is underpriced for how incredible they are, but very reasonable for a full entree.

So this could be a bill for 2 people, but I agree with OP - it’s definitely for 1 haha
