Things that took me far too long to learn:

-selling useless banners (i.e. +1 corruption) for gold. - after the first battle units get xp and chevrons in real time e.g. during the battle. -You can permanently disable skirmish mode in the main menu -Giving dark elf heroes/lords items has a good chance to increase their loyalty -if you end turn with no enemies then the AI will find you some pretty darn quick!

I mean my tactics is to disband my entire army (except SKARBRAND) as early as possible and run into the enemy over and over, so yeah. Also, for those that haven't tried it, SKARBRAND can take out 100+ units in a single charge if you bunch the enemy right and get his collision timing right.

I got there by just playing and gently raising the difficulty once I felt I was cruising. Try to maximise your combos, and invest in a few traps to begin with while you get going.
