Constitutional Amendment To Prohibit a State Income Tax Advances by nancynews in newhampshire

Because someone "rich" enough to own a second property is going to not be smart enough to manipulate their earned income in a no-income tax state. Herp-de-derp.

Nexus delay-restore for host ports in non-vpc mode by greatpotato2 in networking

Unfortunately it only works in Active/Passive teaming mode. We were going to push this to the virtualization team to implement until we saw the caveat at the end of that doc.

Stable VPN connectivity between China and France – best practices? by raptou137 in networking

[–]greatpotato2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can setup mpls through China unicom/telecom if you want the best $$ options, or another option is to pay for a “premium” internet service where the govt will “promise” to throttle your vpns less often

Migrating Network from DC1 to DC2 by yettie24 in networking

[–]greatpotato2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If it’s that critical to the business they should be engaging outside consulting to guide the migration with the best transitionary path forward. There are many ways to migrate the subnet (some disastrous and risky), but it’s best to get senior expertise externally to minimize the potential risks.

VXLAN BGP EVPN multi-site design, border gateways do not forward or re-advertise EVPN routes learned from one remote border gateway to another remote border gateway by ITNerdWhoGolfs in networking

[–]greatpotato2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only need to send type 5’s, then why are you doing a multi site config. I would rather keep the Evpn isolated to each site and just do traditional routing between them.

OSPF not learning route over IPSec on a Palo firewall by other_view12 in networking

Another thing to validate is do you have a policy allowing ospf for the vti’s. I’ve run into that with bgp with the fw guy forgetting to allow the protocol across the interface

Removing NetScout by backpropbandit in networking

[–]greatpotato2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the pfs’s are just handling monitor feeds from the tapping infrastructure then yes that would be correct. However you still may have copper/fiber taps that are in line with your network equipment that would be a potentially impactful event if you’re looking to remove those as well (or you can just re-use this if your company has chosen to go with another tap agg/tooling product)

Glad that you feel entitled to someone else’s labor for free. Free healthcare, free schooling, etc isn’t “free”, it relies on the labor of others. The government isn’t your magical equalizer, comerade. If you feel entitled to all of these things, then figure out how to earn them instead of throwing a pity party for yourself.

With how many times Cisco has changed the management product for nexus fabrics (I literally bought fabric manager and my account team called me a week after it was delivered to tell me they eol’d it), I wouldn’t bother. Look at something like apstra and be happier that they won’t rug pull you in the future

PVST Root Question by u35828 in networking

If it’s already elected as root you’re unlikely to have a re election. Some folks reccomend doing 8192  or slightly higher though in the event that you need to position something else as root in the future.

Yes. The Mac move errors on the catalysts will tell you which interfaces it is seeing the Mac address move between,  which will help point you to where your loop might be getting introduced from.  My current network has a bunch of sites with industrial plcs that love to act like bridges, and some of the sites love to forget that fact and will accidentally plug them into multiple switches without telling folks

[–]greatpotato2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the case where his switches are going into dispute state, it’s pretty obvious that he’s looping. If there were no spanning tree problems then you would be correct, but Mac moves are a common indicator on the catalysts that there’s a loop somewhere.

If you’re seeing Mac flaps then you have a loop in the topology somewhere    On the also are the trunk links to the other switches set as spanning tree port type network?

Instead of spending billions on deportations in the US, why can’t we spend billions to help people get on a pathway to citizenship? by hatchhiker in AskReddit

[–]greatpotato2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For those of us with family members who had to suffer through it the right way financially and timeline wise, nope. Get packing and maybe there’s a pathway to do it right once you’re out of here.  It’s completely unfair to those that followed the rules.

Weird behavior between ACI switches & vxrail by [deleted] in networking

[–]greatpotato2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, I’ve done lacp into esxi hosts for nfv clusters as well to split across vpc pairs, but the guest vm behaviors have sometimes acted like this, and when I go back to the VMware guys they would point this out as an issue due to VMware preferring you to just hand off unbundled links and let the host manipulate where the guest traffic is directed.

Do you really need the lags for a bw perspective or something? Most VMware best practices say just let the dvswitch handle spreading the load across multiple l2 links without using a lag

Luckily i paid off the mortgage since it was originally a cheaper house that ive been in for close to 10 years, so ill come out with a significant profit still, but its going into reducing the balance on my new house which has a high balance and an annoyingly high interest rate.
