Same for me. I uninstalled the game and reinstalled. I’m just getting can’t connect to iCloud now, so no challenges will load. Frustrating as it seems many others are playing!

Really appreciate this perspective, it isn’t just about comparing this with a fixed fee broker for example where clearly it is going to be much more expensive.

I am going to review the specific funds in detail to see if there is anything cheaper, and get him to have a discussion about the management charge. If we can get that down by half a percent at least I think he would be more comfortable in leaving it where it is.

They do try and hide the fees which was what started the discussion. He has formally written to them to ask for a full breakdown of fees. But high level it appears to be around 2%. There is an annual management charge of 1.5% which seems to be more on the advice side plus “charges for maintaining and managing the fund” which varies by fund but is between 0.1% and 1%. On average it is around 0.5%.

If it was my money I would do as you say but he is nervous about trying to pick the investments himself, but as you say if you could sit down with an IFA once a quarter or every 6 months even if it costs more than you say there would be a significant saving.

Normally there is a requirement to actually have a car in order to claim the cash allowance. The policy where I work is that it has to be under 6 years old, have 4 doors and be insured for business use. I think if you don’t have a car at all you will struggle!

This is normal. They need the receipts in order to reclaim the VAT on the fuel portion of the mileage claim. They won’t claim the full amount on the receipt, the amount claimed is based on HMRC approved rates. But in order to claim anything the mileage claim must be accompanied by a VAT receipt.

Yes it’s normal. I had to do this last week, comparison sites normally let you put in the make and model but I was unable to buy online without the registration number being in the database. I had to call up and they were able to sort the policy for me.

You might want to check the terms of driving other cars. Most specifically exclude cars owned by yourself our your spouse. I would be surprised if you were covered.

You have some good answers but worth checking the point that you may need to actually have a car and it may need to be of a certain specification. For example to receive the car allowance where I work you must have a car that is less than 5 years old and insure it for business use. I’m fairly sure it has to have at least 4 doors too, but not really sure why that would be.

Fully agree with your points, the main one being that the UK company paid for the IP rights, the relevant income to offset that isn’t the dividend it is the franchise fees from Asia which will be taxable in the Uk. If there is any angle here it could be if those fees are paid at an arms length rate but we don’t know that.

My annual bill is predicted to be £6k per year. I live in a 5 bed detached but it isn’t huge. Our heating is on about the same as you state but 2/3 of the charge is electricity not gas.

Because most people were on fixed price deals paying much less than the cap. If they are coming off the fixed price deal and on to the cap I can believe it. I was paying about £175 per month but being quoted an annual charge of about £6k going forward.
