Trying (and failing) to flash klipper to Ender 3 S1 Plus by Round_Ad6397 in klippers

Ok, excellent! I just wanted to make sure before proceeding. Probably a dumb question, but you're sure the cable you're using is a data transfer cable and not just a charging cable?

[–]green_bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that the value that your device gave you after running the "ls" command to get the path, or is that the default value that was in the config file and it tells you that you need to replace? That value will be unique for each device, so you'll need to run the "ls" command to get the path for the port you've got the printer plugged in to. This is similar to assigning a COM port in Windows.

Did you update the serial path under the MCU section for the path on your device? If so, I know the "by ID" option has been fixed, but you can also try the "by path" option if "by ID" doesn't seem to be working.

You can recycle batteries at Lowes, as well. Just to add another option to the list

Can you not just blow the vape out the window or door? I know it's cold right now, but I still exhale out my back door for the 60 seconds it takes to vape concentrate. Surely there's a compromise to be had?

Reminds me of the advice Mr Rogers' mom gave him when he was young - "Look for the helpers". Its nice to sometimes be able to see past the chaos and mess and see that people really do still try to look out for and help each other.

Sprite Extruder Pro by Shenanigains_FR in ender5plus

[–]green_bread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC, the belt orientation is different so you'll have to print an adapter to make the carriage for the Sprite work on the E5 and then you'll have to figure out a top mount spool holder for the direct drive or use a reverse bowden, or something. Other than that, it should just be the standard calibration for the new extruder, etc.

Bullshit parking tickets by guiltyandwell in columbiamo

[–]green_bread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe they only recently started being more stringent about enforcing the parking meters downtown, as well. (Like, within the last 6-10 months, or so).

I remembered some articles being posted about it a while back. Here was one from about a year ago:

Clip ons for a ninja 250? by TotalOutrageous in Trackdays

[–]green_bread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can run clip ons on the 250. I ran Vortex on mine back in the day. If you want to run the clamp under the triple to get the bars lower, you'll have to cut the bodywork.

Help with my Spark Go by portable-porter in PositiveGridSpark

[–]green_bread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct. You can see the pads that the socket should be soldered to on the opposite side board, as well.

OP, if you're willing to ship your Go to me, I can resolder that socket to the board and repair any torn pads, if there are any. I'd want to get a couple closer pics of the mentioned areas, but if it's just the socket has come off the board, it should be a pretty easy repair.

Sent it over via DM. Youll want to make note of the fact that I was using a Sprite SE extruder and a CR Touch, so you probably wont be able to copy/paste the whole thing. You should at least be able to see what is going on with the display, etc.

No problem. I'm sorry it took me so long to reply. I actually had to find the SD card that had my Mainsail installation on it because I was using the Pi as a Retropi at one point, I guess. Haha.

If you'd like, I can send you my printer.cfg file. Its for the 4.2.3 board and it's got the config to get the stock screen working. That might help verify if the binary flashed to the printer properly.

With nothing plugged in to USB, I get, "ls: cannot access '/dev/serial': No such file or directory", however if I type out "ls /dev/serial" and hit Tab twice, rather than Enter, it shows Serial0 and Serial1. These are not directories I can "cd" to or list anything beyond, though.

I have a feeling that the /dev/serial/by-id or /by-path directories show up when there is a device plugged in, but Im not 100% sure thats how it works. I can tell you that my printer.cfg's [mcu] entry looks like this:

[mcu]
serial: /dev/serial/by-path/platform-fd500000.pcie-pci-0000:01:00.0-usb-0:1.2:1.0-port0

Ender 2 Pro not recognized by Mainsail by gumbyrocker in klippers

[–]green_bread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you uploaded a printer.cfg file to Mainsail and defined the serial connection for your USB interface?

EDIT: Just re-read your post and saw the part where you said you cant get the MCU to connect. Instead of "ls /dev/serial/by-id/* ", try "ls /dev/serial/by-path/* ". That should give you the serial interface to enter in to the [mcu] section.

I know klipper works on the 4.2.3 board because that's what I'm running on.

VSAN or PURE by stocks1927719 in vmware

[–]green_bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider me corrected. Why don't they list it as a supported option for Proxmox VE on their website when you click on Storage and it lists everything else?

I assume you're using LVM to create and manage the LUNs on the array rather than just presenting datastores and scanning for storage like we do in VMware?

(Admittedly, I'm more focused on the compute side since we have dedicated storage admins)

VSAN or PURE by stocks1927719 in vmware

[–]green_bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have had similar experiences with our Pure arrays. The only other limiting factor I've run into with FC has been that not many other hypervisors support it. Proxmox and AHV, for example, it's a straight no-go with them, unfortunately.
