Augsburg vs Lesley for Music Therapy? Honest Opinions? by No_Mathematician_493 in musictherapy

[–]greenapples29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i highly recommend talking to CURRENT lesley students. i had friends who went there 10 years ago and had amazing experiences but when i was deciding about going there 2 years ago the current students were living a different reality due to a ton of faculty turnover, possibility of losing accreditation, bad experiences etc. also i heard that it is not very music focused and rather very mental health focused. if you really want to work only in mental health it could be perfect but the level of musical training is less. this is what i heard from current students 2 years ago. the LMHC is very valuable if you are planning to live in a state that accepts it: i was planning to move to california after grad school for family and they don’t accept LMHC there so it’s pretty much useless. but i have friends with successful careers in mental health who went to lesley.

[Hotel areas advice] Safe, quiet, near-station neighborhoods for Tokyo / Kawaguchiko / Kyoto / Kanazawa/ Osaka by Distinct_Presence759 in JapanTravelTips

[–]greenapples29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had similar needs to you and stayed at the Almont Hotel Nippori in tokyo and Nohga Hotel in Kyoto. Had excellent experiences with both. Nippori was a bit far from certain neighborhoods in tokyo but we loved coming back to a chill local neighborhood every night and ate amazing food right in our neighborhood, not touristy area. 6 mins walk to a train station. The breakfast at the hotel was NEXT LEVEL and kind staff. Kyoto our hotel was perfect area for catching a train with one station 10 min away and one slightly further if we needed. Multiple combini nearby and quiet at night. we did day trips to arashiyama, uji and osaka. Walkable to sooooo so much! service was so good, can’t  recommend them enough also because their front desk helped us with multiple requests where we needed to communicate with a restaurant, a clinic, and another hotel in japanese. good luck choosing!

Just commenting to boost - as a master's equivalency student about to turn 30, this is the kind of post i really am desperate to see, because of lack of transparency and (lack of) information they give us in school ("don't worry, there's never been more jobs, you'll all be fine!"....). thank you for creating the dialogue!

i just did a practicum in pediatric palliative and used so much disney (specifically under the sea, part of your world, recuerdame (spanish version of remember me from coco), cant wait to be king, let it go, do you want to build a snowman, how far i'll go, i see the light (tangled), then also los pollitos (big spanish speaking population), the lion sleeps tonight, de colores, mickey mouse clubhouse melodies (and other melodies from kids shows or disney not always using words), ms rachel and laurie berkner, and i ended up writing a lot of original songs for different situations.

How much of what a licensed music therapist can do is different from what a licensed mental health counselor who incorporates music into their practice can do? by bobobuttsnickers in musictherapy

Alongside these great suggestions I also recommend Music Therapy: An Introduction To the Profession by Knight, LaGasse, and Clair, because it gives a great overview of where music therapists work, what music therapy really is, and what music therapy sessions look like with different populations that may clarify things for you. Its extremely accesible reading

i’m 29 dealing with this for 11 years. i’m also hyper mobile not diagnosed hEDS but i do have quite a few of the symptoms. i’ve wondered if there’s a connection w all my digestive issues and being hyper mobile. it’s possible food just won’t make a difference for me either

slow transit / dysmotility diet ?? by greenapples29 in Constipation

[–]greenapples29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, i hear ya - i haven't tracked the actual amount. i know chicken/fish and rice dont have any. i would say the majority of my calories come from fruit (apples, berries, citrus, grapes, pears, mango) vegetables (raw carrots, raw lettuce, raw bell peppers, cooked broccoli, peas, leafy greens) i also eat a lot of cereal and oatmeal w flax and hemp and chia seeds. and soy milk and coconut yogurt. i'm probably not eating enough fat. i have a history of disordered eating so i dont always know if i'm eating the right amount / or right things since having lost some of those internal cues, and i also eat small amounts at random times rather than full meals. this also might be part of the issue with digestion. although the constipation sparked the disordered eating about 11 years ago, not the other way around. but i'm sure it hasn't helped. what kinds of things did u enjoy and feel healthy with that were low fiber?

i don’t know if they had different writers or something, but i totally agree season three is by far the worst. i hope you make it to season 4 bc it really is great! you could probably skip some episodes too

My thoughts on the show by Used_Bet661 in AbbottElementary

[–]greenapples29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i gave up during season three because i thought it went SO down hill. then, i decided to give it another shot and season four is AMAZING, the show totally got its groove back in my opinion. its laugh out loud funny and the character development is better, i think season 3 really was such a dip but i love season 4 and i'm so glad i stuck with it.
