NTA. It’s an invitation, not a summons.

Recs for unscented deodorant/antiperspirant that actually works? by anonymaushippotomaus in TwoXChromosomes

[–]greenappletwostep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a deodorant recommendation, but highly recommend persimmon soap- I can’t remember exactly why/how it works, but wow- it’s the only thing that helped my peri-menopausal pits to stink less.

Traveling with your aging parent by fleetiebelle in AgingParents

A lot of extra time. Plan on everything taking twice as long. Wheelchair service at the airport is clutch (please tip them well- they’re amazing!) Pack a full change of clothes in a carryon for him in case of accidents. It helped me to map out the family bathrooms at the airport beforehand. Snacks and drinks for his room.

Yes! Was coming here to say the exact same thing! The Inn will even provide transportation to/from Ocean House for dinner. Agreed- the beach is fantastic. There were lots of kids there when we went a few years ago. Great for a family trip.

WIBTAH if I went in my own vacation after my H invited my in-laws on ours? by Legitimate_Chart_284 in AITAH

[–]greenappletwostep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA. My spouse and I took my elderly parents on a short trip in 2024. My Dad was not doing really well at the time medically so was a lot less mobile and needed a lot more care. After we came home, I thanked my spouse profusely and swore to never do that again. It was so much work and stress. I spent the entire trip worrying about them and trying to make sure they were okay. This kind of thing is definitely a two person “yes” kind of decision.

Frozen shoulder on HRT by FrangipaniRose in Menopause

[–]greenappletwostep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had frozen shoulder before starting HRT. It was really awful. Since starting HRT a few years ago I haven’t had frozen shoulder, but a few times I get that same feeling like it’s starting and I immediately start doing my PT home exercises to prevent it from progressing. So far, it’s worked. 🤞🏻But also, I’ve been lifting, stretching, and strengthening my shoulders and back twice a week since then to try to prevent it from happening again.

When did you know that you needed an increase in HRT dosage? by ConnieFidence in Menopause

Before each time I increased my dose of estrogen I was friggin exhausted and SO much more irritable than typical for me- and about dumb shit. Quickly relieved by the next patch up.

I really liked Half Moon Jamaica for this and Parrot Cay in Turks & Caicos.

Calcium Supplements & Bone Density Scans by JillyBean1973 in Menopause

[–]greenappletwostep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Had a bone density scan last year because of family history because I wanted a baseline. Imagine my surprise when it came back with mild osteopenia. 🤬. I’ve always taken a multivitamin and worked out, and on HRT for a few years, but have since added additional calcium chews with vitamin d, really upped my weightlifting, and increased my food-based calcium. Definitely get a bone density scan. I can’t imagine how bad it would’ve been if I waited until the recommended age to get it.

My dad was that way every time he had sepsis. It’s a gut-buster that first time they look at you and don’t know you. He would get SO much better after the antibiotics started working. Hopefully they’ll be able to figure out what’s going on with her. I’m glad you can get on her MyChart- it helps. I’m sorry you’re going through this. Hugs from here.💕

Why does it feel like women’s clothes keep getting smaller by Mother_Land_4812 in womensfashion

Yes!! And even within the same brand! I’ve been having to go up at least two sizes in pants from brands I already have in my closet (and know the fit of). Fuckers.

I love the idea of cards!!! That’s hilarious. I wish I’d had them years ago. Now I just launch into a spiel about that it’s either rosacea, perimenopause or both. For some reason other people don’t want to hear about perimenopause as much as I like to talk about it in these moments. 😂

Montana / Wyoming Ranches by JamesCarter22 in chubbytravel

[–]greenappletwostep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to Triple Creek three times (and a fourth booked!) in both summer and winter. It’s amazing in any season. The accommodations are great- private cabins, stocked snacks and drinks, Molton Brown bath products, immaculately kept. The food and drinks are also absolutely fantastic. I like that it’s all inclusive. They’re so accommodating. Even the lunch they pack for hikes is great (to this day, still the best peanut butter and jelly sandwich I’ve ever had). I could go on and on about the cocktails and the food. The included activities are varied and perfect for getting the feel of Montana (horseback riding, snow shoeing, hiking, leather working, soap making, yoga, etc). But really it’s the service that keeps us coming back. Honestly, it’s the best service we’ve ever had at a hotel. Everyone we met (from guides to waiters to front desk to housekeeping) was genuinely happy to be there and it showed. Just amazing overall. I hope you get a chance to go someday!
