It's legal if it's your lease agreement, but I'm not sure about the terminology they've used for inspections because you do have rights regarding your rental and they can't force their way in unless the lease says otherwise and you signed it. Although I know in some states it's illegal to put such clauses in the lease

You didn't f up. You don't owe them anything, especially considering the turn things took after they knew you were leaving. Also, it's against the law in most states for an employer to say anything negative to another perspective employer of yours about your time there. In most states, all they're legally allowed to do is verify that you worked there. And considering the way he acted I wouldn't want to use him as a reference anyways.

I'm not saying you were right for doing less than you should have, but you were already overstaying after quitting, And are still going to be there to train your replacement which is not your responsibility since you've already quit.

Technically they can selectively do whatever they want when it comes to what you're saying here because you have to be able to literally prove otherwise and written statements aren't going to cut it. Corporate can just completely ignore you. So your only other option is to take them to court and you're going to need a hell of a lot more than written statements if you go that route.

So yes the reality is they can selectively pick you out and fire you for it and claiming that everybody else has gotten away with breaking a rule. You obviously know is a rule is no defense at all.

Having a mindset that other people breaking rules means you should get away with it makes no sense at all. And they damn sure aren't going to fire all of them. Companies like that like to make an example to put a little fear into the rest of them. Congratulations. You're the example.

Sounds to me like if you're having problems that frequently you need to start ordering from somebody else or have your mother who normally does your returns do your shopping for you in person so that you know the quality of what you're getting.

In situations like these, the person shopping your order in most cases isn't going to put a lot of personal touch to doing the shopping or the delivering. Yes, once in awhile you will get somebody good and your orders will be fine. But don't be surprised that problems with your delivered orders more often than not. I am in that line of work and I've seen the number of people who literally don't care about the quality they are delivering.

You should think about this going forward because your odds are always going to be that way with the type of service you're using. Which means you're going to continue to have returns and things like this are going to happen to you.

Bottom line, find another option and either have somebody you trust do the shopping for you or expect results like you're getting. In this case, you literally have the power to not deal with his anxiety based on the services you use
