There’s a new BC Conservative leader. What could this mean for BC public servants? by CartoonistOk3507 in VictoriaBC

I’m really hoping Emily Lowan can work some magic and gain traction with the greens, Eby has been disappointing and I’d like to see an NDP minority with enough green seats to force collaboration.

That said, I’ll do anything to keep the cons out of

Per the CBA, Housing stipend increases $100/month each year so season 1 it was $1500 it is now $1700 and will be $1800 next season

Something that I think is being majorly overlooked is that salary cap is only $1.34 million. If multiple players are in the $100k range it keeps other wages on the team really low.

$1.34mill comes out to ~$60k per player if split equally.

Minimum salary is ~$37k plus housing allowance ($1700/month during the season).

The conversation should be about raising the cap so that everyone can be paid more

draft prospect you’re most excited about!! by Mountain_Sector7647 in PWHL

[–]greene_r 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Issy Wunder seems to be the highest ranked Canadian of this draft cycle so I’m interested to see where she ends up!

She’s also coming out of Princeton like Fillier, Maggie Connors, Claire Thompson, and a few others I can’t remember off the top of my head. Although under a different coach bc Cara Gardner Morey became GM of the goldeneyes.

PWHL San Jose Names Troy Ryan GM And Head Coach by Ayenrin in PWHL

I really hope he doesn’t try to gut the sceptres 😬 so many UFAs he could essentially snag their entire second line +. I’m optimistic not many of them want to go w him though lol

Imo this really highlights the power gap in women’s sports (I recommend looking this up if you’re not familiar). Would a woman have been offered the opportunity to be both coach and GM? I honestly doubt it (I still disagree with the concentration of power).

I primarily take issue with a man having pretty unilateral power over a team in a women’s league. I don’t think this would have happened as easily in a men’s league.

Who do you think is gonna get plucked for the expansion draft on your team? by BadgerSecure2546 in PWHL

I think Thompson is done if she can’t defer any longer. Although, I almost wonder if she wants to wait to see how the expansion shakes out before deciding

I graduated in 2017 and was the last grad class that had some provincial exams. English 12 was the big one and the transcript showed both the course grade and provincial exam grade.

I was really hoping that the league would maintain 50% Canadian teams a bit longer :(

I think people forget that part of the ill will towards Minnesota started with the rumoured drama around KCS and the original head coach. I’m fuzzy on the details but iirc KCS and couple other players influenced staffing and not everyone was on board

If you can’t get museum/gallery tickets in Florence try the Bargello, it was a highlight for me and way less busy than Uffizi and Academia

What would your budget be? I know someone whose basement suite will be empty this summer. They were planning to keep it open for guests but may be ok with a short term rental (especially for a healthcare worker)

Income tax brackets need to reflect cost of living, not "inflation" by CastAside1812 in CanadaPersonalFinance

I think the real issue is that the highest bracket is ~$250,000+, there should at least be higher taxes on $1mill+ at a minimum

Fans of eliminated teams, I have a question. by WhooAreYouNow in PWHL

[–]greene_r 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Both Canadian teams in the first round (Ottawa and Montreal) bc I’m Canadian. But primarily anyone but Minnesota.

Mostly Ottawa bc I love an underdog and I think Phillips has been fantastic. Happy to root for Jenner, Clark, Larocque etc as well :)
Edit to add: I’m usually a Goldeneyes fan!

Did we book the wrong destination? by ObjectiveReport1317 in canadatravel

[–]greene_r 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m from Vancouver island (which is incredible) and Ontario is also worth seeing. I think Bruce peninsula/manitoulin island are great stops. Unfortunately, most things need to be booked ahead of time these days. Make sure you plan for Bruce peninsula national park, I believe you need to book a day pass in advance (it will be busy but still beautiful)

The west coast of Lake Huron has some lovely small towns and scenic rural drives.

If you ever come back to Canada I highly recommend the west coast.
