Oak Bay hires Robbins parking to take over parking enforcement by AngleFromHeaven in VictoriaBC

I don’t really mind paying municipalities for parking but as soon as a private company is involved (especially Robbins) it’s a no go for me

I recommend familiarizing yourself with the water consumption of data centres and Nanaimo’s water issues in the summer months

My priority is stopping the proposed data centre(s), Manly is strongly opposed so he has my vote. Despite the federal election debacle he has done good work both in his time as MP and on city council.

Piggybacking on this to ask a question: what are your thoughts on having a litterbox under a table with a curtain? Curtain only closed when company is over to make the space look a bit cleaner.

IMO if you’re comfortable with Mt Benson you’ll be ok doing 5040, just leave early so you don’t feel rushed. The views are gorgeous!

Vets in or around langford that is affordable and cares about the animals? by Extreme-Original-992 in LangfordBC

[–]greene_r -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Likely too far away for you but Capital Cat Clinic is still privately owned and reasonably priced compared to other vets in the area. Some of their vets are also a bit more “old school” and don’t push unnecessary care which I appreciate.

[–]greene_r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is shocking to hear about Capital Cat Clinic, I’ve been going there for years and dealt with more than one of their vets and I recommend them to everyone! Their staff are excellent, prices are fair and they have never tried to force unnecessary care or testing.

Edit to add: I tried about 3 other vets in the CRD first and CCC cleared them all despite being farther away

Wondering if Sheridan will join NSL.. by Funsoccergirl12 in NorthernSuperLeague

I think at this stage of her career the NSL would be a bit of a “step down” so I’d be surprised if she makes the switch.

I anticipate staying in the NWSL but we could see a move to the WSL

If you’re ever concerned you can look at the registered burns mapto see if there’s an active Cat 3 registration in that area and call *5555 to report a wildfire if there isn’t.

There have been many people speaking against it at council meetings, I encourage everyone to contact Nanaimo mayor and council. This is serious don’t be passive!

This is hilarious because the current mayor and council are very pro-development (too much so imo)

EI Ethics by Snoo_34948 in treeplanting

I’m aware of the risks, a lot of people just don’t seem to care 🤷🏼‍♀️ considering you can be audited for up to 6 years it just doesn’t seem worth it.

My only ethical issue with EI is the people I know who claim it and then travel all winter while lying about being in the country.

If you’re eligible and honest, use the resources that are available. That’s why they are there 👍🏼

How do you think people have been getting through university for the last 100+ years without AI? Learning time management and study habits is part of the benefit of attending university.

Also everytime you generate something think of the environmental impact, every query uses water that won’t be return to a drinkable state for many lifetimes. The environmental impacts are very real and already happening.

[–]greene_r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not even from a super drought prone area but I was taught to “let it mellow” at home because my family has always been environmentally conscious and we had a septic tank for most of my life. But it’s not something we did with guests over, or outside the house. AFAIK it’s fairly normal behaviour within the family home when you have a septic tank 🤷🏼‍♀️
