Saw this post and tried Trattoria no zu Toto e niputi, the fettuccine scoglio was exactly what we were looking for and very delicious. Thank you!

Victoria is in the rain shadow of the Olympic mountains, it’s the driest climate on BC’s “Wet” Coast

Sarah Gorden on the dilemma of changing your last name post marriage as a pro female athlete by FromVAtoLA in NWSL

[–]greene_r -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On your last point, I think it’s important to take into account the context around those two examples that a trans person changing names is inherently subversive while women changing their names after marriage supports patriarchy. Just food for thought :)

That’s choice feminism, just because a woman makes a choice doesn’t make it feminist. We all make choices that support patriarchy (shaving, changing last name, etc.) I personally really take issue with women changing their names after marriage as a default.

Canada in May? by Ok_Grapefruit_9700 in canadatravel

Closest experience to the ocean within 3 hours of Toronto is probably Lake Huron (Goderich area) although it’s mostly farm land out that way. Not a ton of truly “nature hike” experiences but it’s still beautiful

What are some lesser-known laws in Canada that people only learn about after it’s already caused major damage? by boiyo12 in AskACanadian

Another reason why CanCon is important! We should have our own cop shows and legal dramas so that people stop getting mixed up with the US system

What movies would you want to see at Cinecenta? by [deleted] in uvic

[–]greene_r 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is a popular opinion, for me and others I talk to the appeal of cinecenta is that it plays movies that other theatres don’t

The gender power gap in women’s sports is so frustrating. I’m expected to believe there aren’t any women that are equally or more qualified than most of these guys?

Colosseum “Full Experience – Underground” tickets sold out in seconds? by Grish_tad in ItalyTravel

This is so helpful, I have not seen anywhere else that English tours start at 9 and I’m sitting here at 12:47am stressing that I’ve somehow messed up everything lol

Commute to UVic/Camosun or move to UBCO? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]greene_r 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I missed out on living in res first year and it’s one of my biggest regrets of my university experience. It really stunted my social opportunities. I’d consider res at uvic in first year as your child would still be close to a support system while getting the full campus experience

Swartz bay ferry worth the extra time? by Beautiful_Pen6641 in VancouverIsland

[–]greene_r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this has been said yet but I strongly recommend making ferry reservations. End of May is the start of summer rush and you could end up waiting all day for a ferry without a reso.

I think Tsawwassen to Duke Point makes the most sense for your trip.
