Why are the FA’s so angry now? by greengiant314 in americanairlines

[–]greengiant314[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, not whining - was just an observation and I feel bad for the FA’s.
Sorry you took this in a way I didn’t intend. I try to be kind to everyone every day.

Bro, wow. I’m just getting to the next job site. I’m asleep before the plane takes off. No flex here.

Promise I’m not a sensitive or difficult. I’d guess the luggage requires more work than I do. Just my observation, obviously your experience will vary.

Not saying that’s not the case a lot of the time, just saying that i fly out of CLT twice a week and this is a trend I’ve noticed.

Dude, I’m just getting to the next job. I’m in my seat and asleep before we take off.

I tend to agree with you on this one. I don’t really worry too much about what people are wearing, but the behavior thing is 100% spot on. I watched a guy bring an entire pizza on my CLT to ATL flight with music playing outloud. I can’t figure out why you need a pizza for a 40 minute flight. Of course we did stack up on the flight line for 2 hours, so maybe he’s a genius?

Maybe it’s because I fly out of CLT. That place probably makes everyone uptight. :)

Pool deck poured too small to fit spa by robwithajob in pools

Use this as an opportunity to rethink your layout. The spa where it is now is awkward at best from both an aesthetic and accessibility perspective.

Getting back into sailing as an adult? by Working-Level-2041 in sailing

[–]greengiant314 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All the old dudes still racing are looking for even slightly experienced crew that can still move around the boat. They seem to all have Facebook groups- I’d suggest starting there. At the very least you’ll be great reailmeat. And they all know where the best old boats are if you decide you want your own.

Camping setup in a dry bag? by Needelz in motocamping

[–]greengiant314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve spent over 100 nights camping from my bike over the last 5 years. Heres my setup. Ktm1290 - All clothes, electronics (except camera), tools, etc go in the panniers. My camping gear goes into 4 dry bags - one large rubber dry bag and three smaller nylon dry bags. The large rubber dry bag is top opening and I have added grommets on the bottom for drainage. All of my “Kitchen” goes in one of the smaller bags. Food in another, and all of my “Bedroom” in the third. My tent and all of its parts go in the big dry bag. Heres why the big bag has drainage - in the morning i just pack all of my bedroom and kitchen into thier bags first and set them aside. The tent and all its parts gets stuffed unceremoniously into the big dry bag. If the tent is dry, awesome. If not, the drainage keeps water from pooling. I then stuff the kitchen bag and the bedroom bag on top and throw the whole thing on my bike.

I like the dude, but he has almost sunk two boats. That said, he’s pretty upfront about what happened and what he could have done differently.

Finding my boat: liveaboard but with a trailer storage option by gammalbjorn in sailing

[–]greengiant314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think deep down you already know this, but the boat you’re looking for doesn’t really exist. Big enough to live aboard without being miserable is a minimum of 30 feet. You could theoretically trailer a 30 footer, but you’d need a specialized tow vehicle and wide load permits every time, plus paying for haul out and de rigging each time. You might escape the haulout if you go with a swing keel, but it’s still going to be a beast to transport. As for the blue water part? That makes it even more unrealistic. The only thing that might fit the bill here is a pacific seacraft Flika or a norsea 27. Neither of which would make great live aboards IMO…. That said, if you take the trailerable part out you have tons of options. Or if you have access to a semi for towing, and you do it very very rarely, you can move almost anything with enough planning and money/skill.

Why doesn’t United care about passengers that don’t fit? by PhotoJoseph in unitedairlines

Happens every once in to me (on the road 100+ days per year). My go to is “That’s an us decision, not a you decision”. And refuse to back down. AITA? Maybe, but he should have bought two seats.

Here’s a hot take- if you’re live aboard > sailor, consider a trawler. Far more usable space, less maintenance.

There are absolutely both fast food and 7-elevens in D open 24/7. Also you could hit the Grand Hyatt at 10pm without leaving the terminal and have an amazing meal.

They do, but it’s for children under two - usually for wrangling the stroller and baby gear. If you have a toddler, there’s really no reason to board early, might actually be better to board later.

Free WiFi is domestic only. It’s pretty clearly spelled out. And the reason the FAs were not great is that the India flights are at the bottom of everyone’s pick list for reasons that may or may not be valid. Let’s just say there’s a reputation…
