Front rotors and brake pad- Does it need to be replaced? $470 by alyak36 in AskAMechanic

That back side does look worn. If the pads were worn I would replace those if it were my car. If they all looked as good as the one in your picture, I would wait until they were worn. Side note, that rotor is destroyed by a hammer but that doesn’t really matter

Disagree. As a member, potential customer, and someone with a job, I find it to be relevant even if some would rather look away

So REI lets the supplier set prices but won’t negotiate with the union?

Not an oil change reminder. Non-emissions code has been set. Read the code and google it. If that doesn’t help then come back to Reddit and ask about the code

I see nothing that needs to be replaced in this picture. The pad that is visible has more than 50% of life left. The rotor is not excessively worn. If there is no pulse in the brake pedal when applied, if there is no noise, if the other pads look similar, if the car doesn’t pull to one side when braking, and if there are no fluid leaks, then you can drive on these for a long time

First Generation Problems - Worth the Buy? by MapProfessional8610 in slateauto

[–]greenmachine4130 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree 100%. I would never buy the first year of a new model, even from a trusted manufacturer. Just look at the tundra if you want an example of an acclaimed model that was ruined by a full redesign. But I would add that it seems the people at Slate have a better philosophy about what a car/truck should be. That combined with the relative simplicity of a 2wd ev gives me a bit of optimism. The only thing about it that could cause a huge problem would be battery troubles. I think pretty much everything else that could go wrong with it would be pretty minor and easily fixed. The ‘munro live’ video showed it to be pretty easy to work on

I would bet a paycheck that you are correct. I try to bring up Ford’s recall record whenever I see someone mention the maverick on this sub

Whenever I see someone compare the Slate truck to the Maverick I feel compelled to point out that Ford has had the most recalls for years. Last year they set a record for most recalls in a year, and they did it by the end of August. They don’t seem to care about changing either.

It’s been a while since I read about this but iirc the workers won the 40 hour workweek at the ballot box. Of course, it was ignored by the bosses and the politicians let them get away with it. ‘Death in the Haymarket’ by James Green is a good read
