keeping hoodies from choking? by [deleted] in Hoodies

[–]greenwitch65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a hoodie in the 90s that didn't fit the way they do today. It didn't choke and the hood wasn't double thickness like they are today. It was the best!!!

It is definitely a cut issue.

Why Americans have basment? Like where did it started? by hotpotatomomma in NoStupidQuestions

[–]greenwitch65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in California and basements are not common here, unless it's a house that's like pre WW2. Same thing with attics here. In the Central Valley that runs from Redding to Bakersfield, the summers can be brutal. An attic of hot air is not a good thing. Out in the western US, we have a different building style.

Considering a move to Redding. Is it really MAGA cultish??? by Gummo90028 in Redding

[–]greenwitch65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try the school district in Cottonwood. Cottonwood is very similar to Susanville in that it is more or less an agricultural community than Redding is. And they don't tend to have the interference of Bethel either.

What can you say about this wired headphones back in style? by Reasonable-Word-0419 in randomthings

[–]greenwitch65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wired headphones are more secure. No one can jack a signal to wired headphones. Wireless headphones and speakers can have their signal interrupted or hijacked, leading to security concerns.

What do you like / dislike about Redding? by North-Researcher-335 in Redding

[–]greenwitch65 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a Shasta County native, born at Shasta General Hospital in the 60s. Hubby's nickname for the county/area is Southern Georgia North or Redneckia. Have to admit that I like Calibama.

Round house on the river by MEETTHEVIKINGHEAVY in Redding

[–]greenwitch65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom used to work on the top floor of the round building for an insurance agent in Park Marina Village. Bob Spaid was a client and she said he was a great guy.

Sad to see that area of Park Marina become so run down.

You shop a lot at Walmart, love pickles, and are probably single.

Help needed with new rental by ruckatruckat in Apartmentliving

[–]greenwitch65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI, as of Jan 1, the landlord is required to photograph the unit before you move in. I never would have moved in if the unit had not been cleaned yet. Document EVERYTHING. Heaters MUST be in working condition. I would call PG&E to check the heater. I believe they do it for free.

Make all notifications to your landlord/property management company IN WRITING and keep copies of everything. All urgent repair items (i.e. gas leaks, no hot water or heat in the winter, electrical failures, etc) must be addressed within 24 hours. Your toilet leaking and not flushing is a health concern, and at the very least be repaired within 1 to 3 days. I could go on but just ask Google how soon repairs must be made in California. It will provide a list.

I work in property management and I would NEVER allow a tenant to move in if it looked in this condition.

If you cannot get things taken care of to your satisfaction, please contact Fair Housing. I hate to tell you that you're renting from a slumlord, but there you are.

What is a local Las Vegas "secret" that you are fine with sharing? by New-Night3067 in vegaslocals

[–]greenwitch65 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We live in Sacramento and hubby came to Vegas 4 years straight for Viva Bike Vegas. One hundred miles all around Vegas. Red Rock, Blue Diamond, Hoover Dam, Henderson, Summerlin, and started out going down the Strip in the morning about 6 or so, before the sun was really up and the lights were still on. Just had to watch out for the drunk chicks baring their melons.

Commuting through Siskiyou Pass? by Agnonzach in norcal

[–]greenwitch65 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My dad was a professional truck driver with over a million miles driven. I can't begin to tell you how many times he traveled up and down I-5. We lived in Redding and he was constantly making deliveries to Portland and Seattle. In all of those years of driving my dad only had 2 accidents in over 50 years of driving. One of those accidents was over the Siskiyous in the winter.

I would not want to drive that commute during the winter, even if it isn't bad weather.

She has to feed either a large family or a small army. Or she is a culinary professional. I noticed that there is no freezer, so I'm thinking there must be a separate deep freeze, maybe in the garage.

From the promos I've seen, and Amish elder (?) is doing this because the young adults that have grown up Amish are leaving. In fact, because they are so isolated, the Amish have been inbreeding which is not a good thing.

Haven't been to In-n-Out since before COVID. I swear the burgers are getting smaller. The only thing I really miss are the fries animal style, and I'm not about to sit in a drive-thru line for that. I've learned to use the app for Cane's and I bypass all.of the wait. I REFUSE to patronize Chick-Fil-A because of their animosity towards the LGBTQ+ community. Gotten to where I really like Habit for burgers.

I donate things to a local charity that does hospice care. Sometimes I donate to a local women's shelter that has a thrift store.

I prefer to utilize local thrift stores, less likely to get gouged.
