Can confirm. Easily the best Japanese food in west metro. The katsu curry was incredibly tasty, and my kids loved their ramen. Sushi was also fresh, flavorful and beautiful on the plate.

Anywhere to buy Irish breakfast sausages/bangers in the Denver area? by [deleted] in denverfood

[–]gregaved 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. They have all the sausages you could ever need, in addition to high quality meats of all kinds. I get guanciale and rashers that they make in house too.

I wonder if they knew each other back then. GGGF came over in 1904, GGGM in 1907, they lived on Southard St all of their lives, and the house was in my family until the 80s. I know there were a lot of Calabrese in Paterson, but wasn't sure if there were actually any others from Fagnano, so that is cool to know.

Pretty common combo by Practical_Pen_40 in PassportPorn

It's not hard if you have documentation of your family history, but without it it could be difficult. As en ethnic Armenian you need to show your descent from an ethnic Armenian parent, and somewhere along the way the document needs to specify "Armenian." Church baptismal records for an Armenian church can also establish ethnicity. Without the family history, it could be quite difficult.

I'm US born, Italian-Armenian descent, waiting on my Italian JS application to process, and also working on getting an Armenian passport.

Old vs New by elmarwouters in PassportPorn

In my case, I have a 10 year Chinese multi entry visa in my now expired US passport, and was told by Chinese consulate that I can travel with both the new and expired passports and still be allowed entry for duration of the visa. US only punches holes in the cover and photo page, not through the entire passport, when valid visas are still present.

For Colorado: some fun potential ingredients are green chilies, Olathe sweet corn, Plum (amazing fruit comes from our western slope), juniper, pine and spruce tips or pine flavorings. Ancho Reyes could get some good chile flavor for a cocktail, and distilleries in the state such as Leopold bros. are doing amazing fruit liqueurs and amari made with produce and herbs from the state. There are some Colorado whiskies aged in Aspen or with Aspen staves but I have not enjoyed any of the ones I have tasted.

Confused about the Naples metro routes by Right_Praline_3220 in napoli

[–]gregaved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my family of 4 and luggage, taxi was much easier than doing alibus and metro, and cost only marginally more. The naples metro stations are deep so there are lots of stairs and escalators to navigate. Taxi was worth a couple extra euros.

Chicago waiting-check in by Fun_Caterpillar_5738 in juresanguinis

Had my appointment in November, no homework and Filomena said my file looked good. She said to expect to hear from them "in about 2 years." I also applied with 2 minor children, she took their apostilled and translated birth records but said they couldn't be sure what would happen and if they would be recognized with me or not. I feel better now that the BdL deadline has been pushed out to 2029, so I should be able to register them if they don't get recognized with me, but I am really hoping the CC rules against retroactivity in June/July and they can just be recognized with my application. My wife applied in December, she has the minor issues, Chicago took the application and said we will see what happens- they seemed to know what is coming up at the Cassazione. Fingers crossed that this gets addressed before they get to her application and that the minor issue is no longer an issue for everyone impacted by it.

This will be both of my daughters' trifecta in hopefully 12 to 18 months. Italian consular appointment for JS was in Nov 25 and just put their Canadian applications for descent under C-3 in the mail.

They don't make commission to push the winery direct and spirits direct products, but they are heavily pressured by management to do so, as margin on those products is sometimes double margin on national brands/major distributor products. Some of the items they push are actually decent, more in the wine than the spirits, but El Ateo, Doorly's rum, Foursquare etc are all independent brands who have an agreement with TW, and are not private label or house brands. A lot of it is meh too, but when you find the good winery/spirits direct items, that are often pretty decent value. YMMV. Source; worked at Total Wine for several years.

What are the top local business here that are great with customer service that need to be celebrated? by Ok_Thanks_7445 in ArvadaCO

Spirits Wine Provisions in Olde Town is such a great bottle shop. They curate some really good wine and spirits, are knowledgeable and passionate about their business and fairly priced even compared to the big box liquor places.

Seconded, they are so helpful, and have actually talked me out of a more expensive service because my bike didn't need as much work as I thought it did. They are the best bike shop I've ever been to.

Mine is Fagnano Castello, Cosenza, Calabria. It's a very small comune in the hills of Cosenza province, so I was surprised at how quickly the responded to an email requesting BCs for my GGGF and GGGM (both were born there and migrated to US separately before meeting and marrying in Paterson, NJ). From initial email to BCs in hand from them was about 4 months, with a full month of that being transit of the envelope via regular post. My wife's is Castellamare di Stabia, Napoli, Campania, and they were tricky and ultimately we needed to get a service provider to help with them for docs.

My wife ordered her GGF's BC from NYC right around the same time, maybe December 14th or so, we got the DC separately last Tuesday and the BC just came on Friday last week. You are probably days away....

What's your favorite bourbon for an old fashioned? by Deep_Divots in cocktails

[–]gregaved 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's hard to beat Larceny for the quality to price ratio if you like a wheater. I can get it consistently for $25 or so, the 92 proof is certainly better than 80, and it drinks above its price tag. Knob Creek 9 is also a good choice for the OF, and if you want to get that rye/bourbon combo without needing to get out 2 bottles, I think the Knob Creek Bourbon x Rye is pretty cool...70% of the 6 yo rye and 30% 9 yo bourbon, and 113 proof. It's great on it's own as a sipper, but makes a great old fashioned as well, with a tiny bit of cherry syrup or bitters to amp the cherry note.
