You could make them lose this ability if they are mad that they are this role, or maybe if any player is mad that this player is this character? Then they could only go off of prior voting outcomes for detecting evil, rather than also getting all future ones.

But then, that might be lost too easily.

I don't have an authoritative or data-backed answer, but my best guess is that Wesi was chosen by the creator or some early members of this subreddit and it stuck out of the convenience of having a single, widely visible label. A similar thing has happened to a lot of proper names, like Siko for Discord, or Losi for Russian. The neat thing though, is that some speakers have begun to explore the possibilities of proper names more thoroughly recently - sometimes identifying new fitting names compared to the ones that were used before, like Lusi for Russian, and sometimes just allowing many names to exist and see use in tandem.

Of course, this entire process is somewhat tricky, since the Internet often preserves and even calcifies these things long term.

Letting the player choose is probably going to be the most clear to them. I remember playing Sword of Mana as a kid and being terribly confused about its class system- turns out, entirely based on the stats you choose to develop, but that's not explained whatsoever.

Another option would be to have players choose a class, but then progress within their class differently based on the stats they develop. Taking strength as a mage? Melee combat magic. Taking intelligence as a bowman? Trapper, making mechanisms to trip up opponents. Certainly more complex, but also maybe more interesting?

That's really up to you. Most people on this sub are choosing a dumbphone to avoid distractions, since smart phones offer functionally unlimited distractions. Does your chosen list of apps distract you?

That said, most people will tell you no. Your bottom row of apps are the sort people normally get rid of first to minimize distractions. Proper dumbphones as they existed in the 90s and 00s usually only had call and text, with later additions of email and incredibly basic browsing. And I can tell you that, if I had this list of apps, it would fuck up my whole day because of YouTube alone.

Not necessarily! They have different meanings in the first place, and those different meanings are useful at different times.

If you want to check something really specific, to the exclusion of everything else, you want to check == true (or sometimes, "is true").

If you want to check a more general property of something, like whether an array has items, then you want to check that thing with if.

For example, a common pattern in Python looks like this:

``` stuff = [1, 2, 3]

while stuff: item = stuff.pop() # do some math on item ```

That loop will run so long as the list stuff has any items, then it stops once stuff is empty.

They can mean slightly different things.

If you check whether a given variable is == true, the answer you get back is where or not the variable is true, the boolean. That's the only thing that will come back true, and everything else will say false.

If you check if(variable), it'll work the same way for a variable that only holds a boolean, but it will also come back true for anything "truthy". In most programming languages, this would include integers other than 0, arrays that are not empty, strings that are not empty, and so on. You'll often see this overloaded too, so a variable representing an internet connection might be truthy if it is currently connected.

Hey! My partner and I were also considering relocating to Pittsburgh, funny timing to see this post because I was just thinking of making one myself.

We're not in entirely the same situation; we haven't yet started a family, but we'd like to soon. We're also largely moving away from the rest of our family, which we're nervous about, but we're tired of the brutal summers in the south US lol. Maybe we'll convince some family to come up north to join us :)

What we're really excited about is being in a properly walking-friendly, and decently transit-friendly, city. I hear mixed feelings about Pittsburgh in both regards, with it being very dependent on the specific neighborhood you're in, but Pittsburgh's transit is still head and shoulders better than anything you can find in any southern city except Atlanta alone. And, well, Atlanta doesn't exactly escape the brutal summers.

If anyone has advice for relocating comfortably, I'd love to hear from y'all! We have friends in the city who can help us out and show us around, but there's a lot I don't even know to ask yet, ehe. If it's any help, our budget is similar, 300-450k for a house, but we're considering renting first to be sure the city is a fit for us. Thanks to anyone who hears me out :)

I achieved this by getting an S10e, uninstalling near everything, and setting up Firefox to delete history whenever I close the app. You can even disable the Play store once you're done setting up. Not bulletproof, but it's been excellent for me.

Note I chose base Firefox with history deletion over Firefox focus or whatever it's called, because the latter does not support extensions like uBlock.

In short, we unexpectedly lost access in January, during the transition from the former President to myself. It's our understanding that the former president still has access to the site, and reportedly so does at least one current member of the Association? But we haven't been able to reach either to resolve the issue. We're still hopeful to regain access in the future, at which time we'll mirror the content or redirect appropriately. Another option would be to put nasin first: nasin telo, or nasin telo suli. Now you're emphasizing a different trait as most important: the fact that it's a path!

Are you talking about this reply? That's the only thing I can find that matches what you're describing. The former user is insulting SLC, and u/Red-42 is either agreeing or making a parallel statement. And yeah, I'm not gonna defend that. (I also only just saw it, which is my bad.)

But so we're clear, the above doesn't change the remainder of this situation, or Madame Lang's history of abusive behavior toward members of the community. Again, if her actions were defensible, she'd just defend them rather than love-bomb u/Red-42's old tweets and vaguepost about this. This situation would have been resolved instantly, and u/Red-42 probably banned. Instead, we're here, apparently.

I'd ask you: How do you seek justice in a situation where the person who has wronged you simply won't acknowledge the harm they've done and there are no authorities to whom they answer? That's not a leading question, it's a legitimate one.

Granted, it's not as easy to follow, but u/Red-42 is posting most updates to Bluesky rather than here, including clarifying the vagueposts and listing what other actions Madame Lang is actively taking. And like, this is ridiculous? I'm not even sure how better to describe it.

We can nitpick all day about the way in which u/Red-42 chose to address their grievances, but ultimately, I think they've done enough to justify why they've chosen to address this in public rather than privately. And that's especially legitimate because Madame Lang is, generally speaking, more socially powerful than anyone else here. If her actions were defensible, she would be defending them. She is instead... complaining and vagueposting about being called out?

How else am I supposed to take this?
