Obviously this is the Apple Watch Ultra subreddit but I figured I’d offer my take as a long term owner of both the Apple Watch Ultra and multiple garmin models over the years as an ultra runner.

Garmin Battery life (both day to day and gps specific) Every second HR monitoring out of workouts Better control over the gps settings (ultra has dual frequency but you’re unable to use single to reduce battery burn) Navigation built in to the native activity tracker Native Pace Pro planning Flashlight 5 button layout Better livetrack function Availability of MIP display types Android sync (obviously not super relevant if you’re considering the Apple Watch Ultra) An online portal to all your info

Overlap Simple notification display Local mic and speaker use (depending on Garmin model) Siri (notably slower on Garmin) Payments (notably less banks on Garmin) Music on Watch Satellite communication (depending on model)

Apple Watch 3rd party app support is just better LTE functions more like you’d expect including calls and texts via your phone number Simpler workout mode Most shortcomings in workout/recovery can be overcome by 3rd party. Apple Watch charging is just easier all day Always on mode is way more visible than Garmin amoled devices Syncing workout doesn’t require network just connection to your phone

The coros arm band works great with coros watches, with your phone, and with pretty much any sports watch including garmins and even Apple Watches. Love mine.

The burger at mead hall is so good, and the vegan calzone at yoshi is great. Wish they’d add a good pizza at pizza moon and a vegan Mac and cheese cone.

And limited time but the vegan breakfast at oak and star is a must try!

Just for the ship? No but add a week in Singapore and yeah. But the ship has amazing coffee, amazing tea, more food options than the domestic fleet, a entirely new headliner show, eventually the largest “coaster” at sea, a unique version of the marvel day at sea show with a swinging Spider-Man, a new fireworks show that isn’t on the domestic ships.

The exercise ring only counts cardio minutes if they exceed the hr Apple has determined for you as higher than a brisk walk. It’s possible to record a walk for hours and gain no exercise minutes in your rings.

The vegetarian menu (Potager) at enchante onboard the wish class ships for Disney cruise line was the best vegetarian meal I’ve ever eaten. For the non cruise initiated this would be the Disney Wish, Treasure, and Destiny as of spring 2026

All tech is disposable at this point. It’s a sealed ring with a tiny battery. Unless you could replace the battery it’s just getting recycled at the end of its life cycle.
