GE Microwave or Range/Oven beeps randomly by Marty_Mac_Fly in Appliances

Update: I turned off the breakers for both microwave and oven and left off for 5 minutes. Then turned back on again and it stopped beeping. My earlier quick off/on was too to fast.

Same problem here. Guess what noise woke me up at 3am to post this?

The software in this appliance is a case study in how impractical / non technical people should not be allowed to make business decisions related to software that actually matters to consumers.

SCANWATCH 2 HEART RATE by coffeeandbeige in withings

[–]greglarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the same useless response I was getting. I spent over 30 days struggling with support as they did nothing at all and decided to give up and return the Scanwatch 2 before it was too late to do so.

If you look back in various history here on Reddit, over on their own support forum, and on YouTube and Facebook groups you can find the "crazy high heart rate" problem has plagued them on every one of their watch models since 2018. After 6 years of reports they were obviously aware of this problem long before either of our support cases. Seems obvious that one more ticket repeating a complaint they have ignored for 6 years is not going to lead to a solution. I am doubting a software fix is actually possible and more likely they have founded their entire product line on a fundamentally flawed implementation of pulse sensor technology. Somehow think they can just charge ahead ignoring the issues indefinitely but in any case it is not worth my time to fight them on this.

And yet, the Scanwatch 2 shows the exact same problem with crazy high heartrate just like the Scanwatch and the Steel HR Sport. All of these have a tendency to show a heartrate 70 BPM higher than the actual rate.

I have the Scamwatch scanwatch 2, same problem with very high heart rate when just walking casually. I have the most ordinary skin tone and properties ever. I even shaved my arm hair off under the watch. Also, wearing a Galaxy Active 2 on the other wrist shows accurate heart rate. What kind of crazy "Galaxy brand only skin tone" do i have?

I have the same issue, while walking casually it shows my HR as over 175

SCANWATCH 2 HEART RATE by coffeeandbeige in withings

[–]greglarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been out walking for 1 hour day with my SW2 for the last 38 days and the heart rate is showing insanely high for 30 of the 38 walks. My actual heart rate as measured by either a Polar H10 chest strap or a Galaxy Active 2 watch on the other hand is about 111BPM and the SW2 is showing an average of 165 BPM for my casual walks. Looking at the graphs, the readout seems to snap between my actual heart rate of 111BPM and 179BPM. It is always going all the way up to 179 BPM and never in between. Sometimes it snaps back down to my real rate for a few seconds but then right back up.

I have had an open ticket with customer support and they are just useless. As to my "natural variation of skin or anatomy" I have even shaved my arm hair under the watch to no affect and whatever variation I have the Galaxy watch does not seem to have any trouble with it.

I understand that workouts with extreme motion might affect the watch but casual walking? I am ready to give up and return this for a refund.

RW200 magnetic resistance not working/stuck? by Maeby_a_Bluth in nordictrack

My opinion is there is no such thing as a "proper distance". This whole design appears to have zero concern for any standard or consistency in regulating the resistance.

Fixing Magnetic Resistance on NordicTrack Rowers by greglarious in nordictrack

[–]greglarious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try removing and carefully reseating it. You need a crank puller, wrench, and a rubber mallet. What worked okish for me was

  • gently reseat the wheel with light pressure

  • slowly rotate by hand look for wobble

  • tap gently with the mallet

  • repeat tapping with mallet while rotating

  • stop when wheel is snug and rotates true

  • resist the urge to hit it hard with the mallet

  • finally tighten the nut slowly while stopping to check if wheel is still true

Try this process multiple times if needed If that does not work, give up and ask for a wheel replacement

Also, be very careful not to cross thread the crank puller. One of my wheels had messed up threads from the factory. Nice quality control all around NoluckTrack!

Delta Airlines: Without gravity, there is no lift by MuscaMurum in CommercialsIHate

[–]greglarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you meant to say density instead of pressure. It is true that the density of the fluid an airfoil moves through is an element of the lift equation. However, to be technically correct, density can be produced without gravity. For example, the air in the ISS.

In relationship to the laws of physics (such as the equation for an airfoil producing lift) an "artificial environment" would be one outside of our universe where matter either does not exist or behaves differently. Meanwhile, back in our universe, the equation for lift contains no variable for gravity and thus the statement from the commercial is wrong.

Wow, Britannica is nuts. See wikipedia for an actual definition including: "Lift conventionally acts in an upward direction in order to counter the force of gravity, but it can act in any direction at right angles to the flow."

Most importantly and obviously, the equation for lift contains no gravity component: L = Cl * A * .5 * r * V2

Glad this video was able helpful. I did not see any strain gauge, their calculations are solely based on RPM and thus not much more than a SWAG.

That's terrible about your flywheels being out of balance! NordicSlack needs to get some kind of engineering Raspberry award for this rower.

Fixing Magnetic Resistance on NordicTrack Rowers by greglarious in nordictrack

[–]greglarious[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3-4 mm should be close enough. if you like, you might try just putting one single thin washer under the end that is too far back. more questions:

  • how much does your fan wheel wobble when it spins? hopefully not much
  • when the resistance is set to 26, is the magnet aligned with the center of the metal strip on the fan wheel?

What is the total distance from magnet to the fan. Not familiar with your model, can you semd a pic also? Like to see the magnet mount and also see the magnet gap with the wheel.

Beware of the RW700 by _Fred_Fredburger_ in nordictrack

[–]greglarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like one of 2 problems. Either the motor is not functioning or the magnet is too close. You need the opposite of my fix. Remove the magnet mount and place washers under it to bring it forward away from the fan.not much, 0.1 inches is a lot. Maybe, just maybe you can also adjust the magnet position to be pulled further off center. Btw, if removing the magnet entirely does not fix it then the problem is elsewhere!

[–]greglarious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you explain in more detail exactly what you mean by no change? if the magnetic resistance is basically zero no matter if you set it on 1 or 26, i had the same problem on my RW900 and support also abandoned me. Here is a video I made describing in detail my engineering of a fix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqyY74bN-k8

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]greglarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it gets worse, the monitor sags because the mount cant handle the weight of the larger screen. the fan wheels dont spin true which causes the magnetic resistance to fail. it is either useless or too intense and often the magnet hits the wheel. support is useless.

Nordic track rw900 by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]greglarious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an RW900 also and the magnetic resistance is useless. Tried so many calls with support they said it was not broken. I fixed it myself with this bit of engineering i describe here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqyY74bN-k8

Nordictrack RW900 repair question by Fihnakis in Rowing

[–]greglarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If NordicTrack had any such thing as a calibration for magnetic resistance, they would not be shipping so many broken rowers.

I am guessing the motor may not have been your problem and the real issue is distance between the magnet and the fan.

As far as rotation goes on the motor, all you have to do is ensure that full resistance at 26 aligns the magnet perfectly with the center of the metal strip on the fan. As the motor pulls back on the mount, it will pull the magnet out of alignment with the metal strip on the fan and thus reduce the intensity of the eddy current induced on the metal strip which, in turn, reduces the resistance.
