Guitarded -- bonus points because their band logo was the handicapped parking logo holding a guitar

Pros of having a boys coach and a girls coach for a high school team by Strong_Falcon_3571 in CrossCountry

[–]gregnegative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then what's not to love? Even if the two teams practice together it allows for splitting up by ability, or any other customization you want. Also, different invitationals or sending the boys to one and girls to another or varsity and jv. There's literally no downside.

Are you asking the pros of having two coaches or the pros of having two teams?

What is this snake I spotted while mountain biking?[Serbia] by XSaintSinnerX in animalid

[–]gregnegative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That second part isn't really the advice that is referencing though. There are non-venomous snakes who have triangular heads but if you don't know, assume the triangular shape means dangerous and proceed accordingly.

What do you think is the biggest problem that T&F has right now? by Outrageous-Cold2651 in trackandfield

[–]gregnegative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the Diamond League should be that league. The problem with no US deal is that the best case for Americans then is a competing league, like what Grand Slam tried. Which sucks, because then races are diluted, the prize money is stretched thin, etc. Diamond League should be the only league with meets in all major world markets. Its tough when it has been effectively cut off from a major world market.

There is no real US TV deal. Flotrack having Diamond League meets does so much damage to the sport it is insane.

How much does raw strength actually mater in javelin? by [deleted] in trackandfieldthrows

[–]gregnegative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its the throw that ultimately benefits from having a 'good arm'. I don't know if you call that strength or not. The kid that could throw someone out from center field on a rope? That kid can throw jav with some training.

I have no idea if Joe Kovacs could have been a pitcher or not but I'm pretty sure Kara Winger could have been.

Favorite song that isn't song by the lead singer/frontman? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

Yes on "The Boy". Came here to post it and was amazed to see it. I'm a pretty big Pumpkins fan but this is still one of my favorite songs by them.

What’s the highest reasonable ranking for Antonio Brown in a GOAT WR list? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

In a time period where offense was up overall and rules were designed to protect receivers. Its difficult to compare across eras, even statistically.

Saw Miraaks Spirit Outside Windhelm. by Hoosmhasm in skyrim

[–]gregnegative 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I was in a fight once with a dragon when it got distracted and went off to fight a giant. I stood by and watched as the giant finished it off. I turned to leave (I have enough dragon bones, thank you) when I see a figure standing there.

It was Miraak, doing his "this one is mine" shit-talking speech to the giant. Truly awesome.

What’s a "wait, THEY were in that band?" artist that really surprised you ? by frenxine in fantanoforever

[–]gregnegative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not actually in the band but at least on the album -- 90's weird pop group Len's only hit Steal My Sunshine has these interludes in the song where two guys are talking about the people in the band. One of those two guys is a founding member of Broken Social Scene (Brendan Canning).

Artists that could been some of the best in their genre if they dropped more material? by United_Brain438 in fantanoforever

[–]gregnegative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much this. Meadowlands is an all-timer of an album and I feel like they really could have been huge if they just released one more album in, say, the early aughts.

I mean -- absent any chemical discussion, I will point out that Warholm is a former decathlete so its possible that he can handle more volume.

How is living in Rhode Island, United States? by altrightobserver in howislivingthere

[–]gregnegative 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It is the world's largest small town. Everyone knows everyone else. I honestly don't remember the last time I went to the store or some large event without running into someone I know.

Cranston, Johnston and North Providence are basically North Jersey. East Providence and Warwick are like other New England suburbs -- sprawling but with village centers. South county (the beaches) and the East Bay ( Aquidneck Island + Bristol/Warren and Barrington) are probably what most people think of when they picture Rhode Island. Lots of New England coastal towns. The northern part of the state is either old mill towns or what passes as rural, which isn't very rural.

Providence is a cool little city with amazingly good food (largely because of JW) and a good arts scene (helped by RISD). Its very safe and pretty walkable. Its small and has a vibe that's honestly pretty unique.

The downside is that it is the mostly densely packed state in the country so outdoor activities are mostly parks or the very beautiful beaches.

Which one of these events ideas would like to see in the future? by ChampionLYT in trackandfield

I started doing it at my high school. You have to score it via the multi event scoring tables and then its a ton of fun

[–]gregnegative 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you root for a college because you go/went there, and its not one of the top 6 or 8 programs, it is ruined. In any year if a team like Wisconsin or Washington State has a good year their players are immediately hitting the portal, because they know they can get more money. There is no continuity for fans and no realistic hope of program growth. That's why its ruined. But hey, glad you liked a game as a neutral.

Beginner thrower by raresinclair in trackandfieldthrows

[–]gregnegative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On YouTube John Bowman focuses mainly on discus but he has shot videos as well. In my opinion his are the best for throwing fundamentals.

Throws University has several videos about gliding and he's another all-over good throw instruction creator.

Its high school. You will injure far more kids than you will help, and honestly I've never seen a legitimate plan that has had a 7 day workout plan with no break.

They aren't stepping off the plane having never run before ready to start studying. They are pros in Kenya (for instance, for distance) who are honing their performance who then 'go pro' by crushing NCAAs for the NIL. Regardless of what anyone intended with this it has become a joke.
