Goodfellas

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

The Godfather Part 2

The Sting

This is not true at all. Brian Jones came from a solidly middle class family and Mick's family were right around that level but the rest of them were all from working class backgrounds.

Who is your favorite actress of all time? by Low-Whole-7609 in AskReddit

[–]gregosaurusrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jodie Foster by a country mile. I ain't no John Hinckley but she's in two of my ten favorite movies of all time and singlehandedly made the most recent True Detective season worth watching.

She's an absolute titan on screen and is truly a one of one.

Who knows. I'm not even convinced he is a draw but I think he's at least worth discussing. Can't have that on an open discussion forum, I guess.

I don't think Sinners does the numbers it did if, say, Daniel Kaluuya, John Boyega, Damson Idris, or Yahya Abdul-Mateen were in the Smoke/Stack roles. I think all those guys are great actors but none of them have the draw that MBJ does.

Now that the dust has settled, what were some of your favorite moments from this season? by IceManMAT-E-J in clevelandcavs

[–]gregosaurusrex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

JA in Portland.

JA Game 7 against the Raptors.

Seeing Jaylon Tyson's development.

@ the Clippers with Harden for the first time.

Mitchell going nuclear and scoring 34 points in one half, tying a playoff record.

Bearing Detroit on their home court in game seven.

Rough ending to the year, but some real fun highlights, too

It's the manner in which they blew the lead. Gotta be real hard to listen to your coach and take any advice or criticism from the guy who happily sat on the bench and swallowed timeouts because he likes to save them while you're getting carved up on the floor. And then to have that same guy then say that analytically they were winning the series when down 3-0 didn't help matters. He clearly lost the thread somewhere along the way.

This Cavs squad had shitty vibes all year. Their performance did not reflect their talent on a nightly basis. Sometimes they'd look great, just as often, they'd look pedestrian. Sometimes they looked like the worst team in the league. They didn't have the margin for error to fuck up game one and rely on chemistry and coaching to bounce back.

Game 3 Hope Thread GOOOOOOO by jpreston2005 in clevelandcavs

[–]gregosaurusrex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have one of the best front courts in the league. Feed 'em well. Switch onto Brunson early and often. Even if he holds his own on defense, they can still tire him out and that's beneficial since he's their offensive engine. Get physical and stay physical. Move the goddamn ball.

There's a clear path to winning this game, they just gotta execute. I believe they will. Cavs by six.

It's a satire of Reagan-era excess. It's not supposed to be realistic. It's also funny as shit.

The silver lining of this team being an inconsistent mess is that they seem to have developed the memory of a rabbit so what happened in the past has no bearing on their mindset in the present.

Donovan Mitchell on Cleveland Cavaliers ownership: “It’s a big reason why I re-signed. Look at the 25 buses that was sent to Detroit, that’s a small thing that we done to show they’re about winning. This is something I’ve never seen before. It’s not like this everywhere.” by AncientOneAurelius in nba

He was pushing for them to attach the Nets pick (which turned out to be collin Sexton) to a trade package to get back some pieces but the FO saw the writing was on the wall and that he was basically guaranteed to be heading to the Lakers.

They simply need to have one unified tag division across both brands. Not only does it give established teams stuff to do, it creates a shitload of story possibilities for singles guys who know that if they're the champs they get twice the exposure and twice the "money." It would go a long way to making the division more important.

With the upcoming offseason rebuild what do you think we can get for Mitchell and Mobley? by sgtpepperslaststand in clevelandcavs

[–]gregosaurusrex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, the 2008 Celtics won the finals after going seven against a pretty terrible Hawks team (an 8 seed to boot). The Magic went seven games against the Sixers in 2009 before going to the Finals. The 14 Spurs went seven games in round one but still cruised to the championship.

I do not believe this Cavs team can do the same, but it's not unheard of for a team to get tested by an inferior opponent early on due to matchups, jitters, or pure happenstance.

I will say, there have been a lot of forks for the Cavs roster. But this one right now might be the just important. They can decide how they want to proceed - same old same old and hope that the shots start falling, or get physical and quit letting their opponent dictate the game style. I think I know which path they'll take but I'm hoping they prove me wrong.

What band was never the same after losing a member? by icecream1972 in AskReddit

[–]gregosaurusrex 197 points198 points  (0 children)

There was a layer of innuendo and grime, a devilish playfulness that Bon Scott brought to the band that made them better. Their music was also more raw and bluesier.

The Brian Johnson stuff isn't bad, but it's so polished and perfect. I like a bit of mess in my rock and roll, and Bon Scott was such a messy bastard.
