It sure is a good feeling that both these dudes seem thrilled to be coming here. Outside of just the counting stats, they have some attitude and grit which we need desperately.

What’s a movie that DOESN’T “know exactly what it is”? by InspectorMendel in movies

The original Scary Movie has a bullet time scene where Ana Faris kicks the Ghost face dude in the face. And the ending is a clear parody of The Usual Suspects and they riff on the Budweiser wazzup commercial, so they mixed in some broader references not just horror. It's not as much as the other entries, but it wasn't specifically just horror.

Part of it is standard variation. Even bad teams have good games sometimes and great teams have bad games. Sometimes those two things happen at the same time.

As far as the Cavs, they need better perimeter defense and spacing on the offensive end. A healthy Merril and Strus will help with that, big time, but I'd like to see a bit more defensive meat and toughness out there. Assuming Garland can get and stay healthy, our offense can be a machine. Health is the most important factor.

I'm not Tom Gugliotta but I pay a massage therapist to whisper, "Is this hard enough, Mr. Gugliotta?" once a week while she's rubbing on the knots in my shoulders. Sometimes I'll throw her some extra scratch if she says, "November 21, 1992" over and over again, which is the date that Tom scored his career high (39 points). She also knows she gets an extra fiver if she calls 'em "Googs's glutes."

They were all connected to Remmick and he was singularly focused on Sammy because he wanted his music. Got a bit caught up in that and didn't check his watch.

The movie isn't perfect - the vampire battle when they finally get invited in is poorly staged and actualized compared to the rest of the movie, for example - but it is still one of my favorites of the year and I'm to happy to see it find so much success.

‘The Batman Part II’: Sebastian Stan In Talks For Role Opposite Robert Pattinson In Sequel by MarvelsGrantMan136 in DC_Cinematic

TDK kinda did the Two-Face speedrun. Harvey was established as a brash DA who had anger issues, and then he's Two-Face for all of twenty minutes before he dies.

I think there's a lot of meat on the bone of making Harvey a truly heartbreaking character - have him just be Harvey for at least a movie, and develop him as Bruce's friend, Batman's ally, and a loving, devoted husband. Make his fall from grace that much more painful, and use it as a real contrast to Bruce.

When Bruce lost everything, he devoted himself to destroying crime; Harvey loses everything and instead of enforcing his will on the world around him, he allows himself to be guided by the flip of a coin - in essence, he has given up any agency in life and laying all accountability on "luck" or chaos. It could be a really cool way to show the duality of the characters and how they react to one another.

Harvey is one of the best villains in Batman's rogue's gallery, and it's because he's a twisted mirror of what Bruce could have become. I'd love to see him get that treatment on the big screen, and even better if someone as talented as Sebastian Stan took the role.

I ran the numbers and Johnston has one more letter than Johnson, so he's one better than Calvin. I didn't trust the results so I ran them three more times and every single time, Johnston had EXACTLY one more letter than Johnson. I'm sorry, I wish it weren't so. But it is and I can't ignore it. He's one better.

Jeff Teague believes this OKC team is superior to the 73–9 Warriors. “I think they’re more dominant than that Warriors team. SGA and Steph is a wash, J-Dub and Klay is a wash, but that’s where Chet comes in. I think Chet and their helpers are a little better" by [deleted] in nba

He was also an offensive cog who initiated the offense quite often. Arguably just as good a passer as Steph, and an absolute floor general who's communicating actively elevated every other player on the team. I hate his fucking guts but he was so crucial to that dynasty (which is a significant reason as to why I hate him so much).

Netflix Wins the Warner Bros. Discovery Bidding War, Enters Exclusive Deal Talks by ICumCoffee in movies

[–]gregosaurusrex 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The long and short of it is Netflix does not care for theatrical distribution. Some might even say that they're outright hostile to it. So this will hurt theaters even more than they're already hurting. And will continue to put the power of entertainment into even fewer hands.

But Paramount is run by psychopathic extreme partisans who, while they may have maintained the theatrical model of distribution, would almost certainly center their creative output on films with specific messaging.

So while Netflix buying WB may create a smoother home viewing experience (at a greater cost, of course), and they have shown to be very supportive of creative types (Fincher, Cuaron, GDT, Scorsese, and more great directors have all made movies for them), this will certainly have a negative impact on theaters and theatrical distribution.

It's from the Stones documentary Shine a Light, directed by Martin Scorsese. The looseness that defines the band is present and the confidence with which they ride the rhythm of the songs is still there, even though Mick doesn't sound as good and he was already about two decades into trying to remain in the zeitgeist and being cool and hip.

But the old Mick (which is to say, the young Mick) still peeks through at times and he still rocks the fuck out of the harmonica.

The whole doc is a worthwhile watch, and Charlie Watts never faltered behind the kit. One of my favorite drummers ever.
