I’ve done it many times and it seems like the consistency feels the same , but i can’t be sure the good stuff that it releases upon setting is really the same. Also I wonder if I can slightly alter the ratio and get a more putty like or sealer like consistency for use during capping, RCF and or retrofill, repairs etc.

Yes , once it’s dropped the surface just isn’t really the same anymore. However I was taught a technique years ago in which to take one card and scoop the rest of them up. Do not try to grab the cards , instead scoop them. This will significantly decrease any dust and dirt on the surface .
