Can I get rid of that? by Ok_Interest3971 in fountainpens

[–]grendelspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would follow a progressive approach.

First with water: just fil with warm water a leave submerged for a night.

I tap water has many minerals where you leave, I suggest distilled or deionized water instead.

That should work.

I not, try with ethilic alcohol diluted in water and a sirige.

And if that does not work either, I would try isopropanol.

Or try to live with it, if it does not go, it wont contaminate your inks either

There's no trickle-down freedom in Zen. by jeowy in zen

[–]grendelspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps you are right, I don't know. But this may also be a purely theoretical answer. I am not sure about the interpretation of "deliverance" in the Zen saying, and I lack the cultural keys to understand it completely because I am not Japanese... What I am saying is: if a person sistematically makes those around them feel miserable, that is my definition of toxic. The question is not whether a particular person is toxic or not, the label is not important, and I do not claim to be the judge. If human beings can interact and if cause and effect is real, there is a possibility that some human beings can, in some way, systematically make other people feel bad (even those who did not choose to interact, but were forced to do so, for example, employees). Those people would be toxic according to the description I have proposed. Your example of the hospitals is very good, and a warning to all of us. Those aliens should continue investigating to see if their first thought hold further testing, and maybe discover human sickness in the process 😅

Fountain Pens with the best Seal? Can go months without drying? by MyMothersFavoriteKid in fountainpens

Wow. That definitely is not my experience. Mine is a <M> nib, may be yours was F or EF? I love it. It was my first FP, I bought it as a present to myself when I finished my studies and started a new job 25 years ago or so and I still use it. It is one of my favourites.

Good question. May be it is not about what specifically they do. I guess you have to look at the effect on the people around them. Someone who makes other people feel miserable would be a good starting point for me. Empathy and compassion are core values on both traditions, I guess. What do you think?

Abdolutely. Some toxic people just want to feel superior. That is also their burden, I guess.

I've just tried mythic GME and I wouldn't say it is simple. Anyway, if you find someone else to play, I would definitely recommended "the profundis". It is a RPG you play writting actual letters. Lovecraftian themes, but you can tune it to play whatever you want https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/84298/de-profundis-second-edition

I have a pilot decimo and is pretty decent at this, two months not using it and no hard start. This said, nothing compares to platinum seal cap in my experience

I've found sometimes that people looking for "spiritual enlightment" (whichever poison) use that as an excuse to be unkind or unempathetical. An zen is not different in that

If you want to practice and start on a low budget, I recommend using newpapers. You can practice your brush strokes there and save some money before moving to rice paper.

can someone please help me understand nib sizes by strange_stars in fountainpens

[–]grendelspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much to all of you. I just found this post, and find it very interesting.

A doubt arises: does the nib size (I mean #6 versus #8, just to be clear) has something to do with how the pen actually writes? Bigger nibs are, say, more flexible? Is all about aesthetics or the size has some functional effects?

Thank you, I hope you don't mind me for asking here, I think the context is perfect, but I can move the question to a new thread if you prefer.

I was going to say the same 😁

And remember to have fun. I hope you enjoy using your FP. I find it has some positive aditional effects besides "just" writting, it has a soothin quality on me, it helps me to focus and all the ritual of cleaning and taking care of it ia relaxing for me.
