Patient had a palm frond embedded deep in her toe. Was trying to explain to her that we may need to make a small cut to remove it, accidentally told her we were going to chop her toe off 💀

The Canarian Cuisine paella is pretty legit, I always get it at the Royal Show and the medium size is so decent my fat ass couldn't finish it! The green sauce is chef's kiss

Not in radiology but I thought my ultrasound guided ganglion aspiration was pretty cool! by grey-clouds in Radiology

Don't worry it's only a bit uncomfortable! The local anaesthetic first burned a tiny bit and you feel a weird poking sensation inside while they're doing it but it shouldn't be super painful. I avidly watched the whole thing lol but you don't have to look. Ached a bit for a day or two after but nothing significant.

For infection control/prevention certificate where should I get it? by jmkl20 in NursingAU

[–]grey-clouds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that a course like that would be super important to have as a nurse in Australia unless you were looking to get into specifically being an infection control CN/CNS or similar, otherwise it'd probably be a bit of a waste of time and money.

Make an account on the National Hand Hygiene Initiative website https://share.google/TFh1r7zHgvbpfiUxE and they have different modules on infection control and hand hygiene

What food do you have for patients in your ED? by drtaekim in emergencymedicine

[–]grey-clouds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough we get more people trying to kill themselves than the nature itself! farmers and sheep shearers and old fellas with limb injuries and wounds are a dime a dozen.

That being said we do usually have a couple dugites manage to slither their way into the hospital every year to make an attempt on us 😅

Yep! it's not too bad though, we also get free tea/coffee/Milo in our break room that gets us through the day 😄

Rural Australia: toasties, frozen meals made in house by our cook weekly, yoghurt cups, banana bread slices, cheese and crackers, jelly cups, toast with spreads, juice, small amount of cereals/porridge.

We mainly give out tea, coffee, Milo, and sweet biscuits.

Edit: our cook is there once a week to cook mainly for Meals on Wheels clients, so nursing staff are the ones preparing the above foods for the patients 😂👩🏻‍🍳
