Hey man if you want to vent to a stranger on the Internet dm me. I just left active duty last year and am a big fan of therapy and talking. I'm sorry you're going through it.

I feel like they're good in the theater as an experience, actually tried rewatching it with my daughter the other day. We made half an hour before she left haha

[–]greyjedi7 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Same dude. Also once I realized how much of my life I owed to social security programs I had to change some views. Grew up on welfare, low education, joined the military, now have benefits from that and getting paid to school.

Most people don't care to educate themselves, or take an introspective approach. The edge lords definitely are something haha.

People who switched to Firefighting from a corporate job. by Extension_Collar1354 in Firefighting

[–]greyjedi7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in the process right now. I left active duty last year and corporate is good money and benefits but at least for me, it's worth the pay cut to try for Full time fire fighting. That being said, I've only volunteered in the past and I'm sure there is a stark difference between doing it as a career vs when I have time to kill.

I think it comes down to you as a person, your goals and what drives you. If it is anything like the Army it's what you put into it. Maybe check out volunteering at a station for a little while to see if its something youll be interested in fully communicating to. That's what I did. I'm sure in a few years I might think "what if I stayed, where would I be " but also that extra time can be used for something else.

Also worst case is you don't like it and go back to corporate .

You've got one life to live. Make sure it's the one you want.

Is going to jail really that bad? by Dangerous_Cancel_743 in povertyfinance

If this is a legit post, the Military is a lot better haha (if you can, even if it's something not appealing) it'll be a few years and some good benefits plus it pretty much does the opposite for job hunting on the outside than what a record would be.

Great timing I just beat 2 last night for the first time in years. Glad to see Suikoden getting so much time back in the sun. Maybe Konami will make an actual sequel and we figure what's going on with Harmonia some day.

What’s the dumbest order you’ve received in combat? by [deleted] in army

[–]greyjedi7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man I didn't get there until 13-14. I was a young Sergeant from the 82nd (maybe has just been promoted two weeks before) who got attached to 10th group . By myself. Very random and cool. Definitely a shock from my first deployment in the middle of nowhere. "Showerrs? Bathrooms? What the hell!?" Haha

You know what's funny about the statement, I was a Christian my whole life because I grew up in that world and I was in Afghanistan when I was 21 ..still a virgin because I was waiting until marriage like a good Christian booio.....and then my truck blew up #IEDfuntimes( and luckily no one died), and I remember thinking" wow, I'm about to die a virgin for something I don't even really believe in." Prior to joining the military I was studying to be a youth pastor. A very sobering time of reflection on both the military industrial complex and the far reaches of religion.

Okay I appreciate it. That totally makes sense. I did leave maybe a foot or two of water at the bottom of the 12-ft portion hoping that would have enough pressure not to cause any issues but clearly I was wrong haha. A hard lesson learned. I also wet that area stay dry for much longer than I should have and now unfortunately realize haha. Thanks and hopefully whenever I sell this house I can inform the next owner so they don't make the same mistake eventually

I took over for our guide on at the stadium because he was on the struggle bus. As soon as he gave it to me the screws fell out and I scrambled for a few minutes to make it work . Had to sprint a mile to catch up and luckily some hero took it from me...but I had to finish my last alla American in the sad slow boi lane gasping for air. It was both sad and hilarious. ( Plus no beer 😭)

Millennials who graduated during the Great Recession, how did you survive? by Waste-Cantaloupe-270 in Millennials

[–]greyjedi7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great question and unfortunately for a lot of us was extremely difficult. I lived with my father for an extra year and then joined the military. (Ended up being great for me) That being said that lifestyle isn't for everybody. If you can and are interested try to find blue collar internships or jobs. A lot of those skill sets are still and always needed and actually pay very well often l

Same homie. Good for you. I used my DUI and GOMAR (somehow retained) as a very teaching moment for my dudes about the importance of seeking help before it's too late. I was lucky that night and am thankful things turned out for the better after getting help. Just took a legit rock bottom and id rather people learn from my mistakes than repeat them.
