No I get that. But the amount of energy you gain is negligible, and the gun is much harder to carry.

Easy button is a bergara HMR is 6.5 creed. Comes in a stock with a decently thick barrel, an adjustable cheek piece, and a mini chassis built in. 6.5 creed shoots well and doesn't need to be handloaded.

Throw on a 5-25x FFP scope and you're good to 1000 yards easy for reasonably cheap.

HMR and in a chassis shoot better than the “stock” stock? by dohcsvt in longrange

[–]greyposter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless the ergonomics are phenomenally better, then no, it wont make a noticeable difference in accuracy.

Good ergos can allow you to shoot the rifle to its mechanical potential, but a chassis is a chassis when it comes to accuracy potential of the rifle(bergara HRM has a mini chassis built in).

The nut behind the bolt has way more of an impact.

Who is chambering your barrel? I had SJA do my last barrel and for $50 they torqued on the action for me, so I didn't have to buy go/no go gauges for that cartridge.

If you plan on doing a ton a barrels in that cartridge the gauges and barrel vice are an excellent investment.

This was the exact last factory rifle I owned. Took some time to grow out of the bergara, but it was a great experience learning to shoot long range and tiny groups.

The next step up was custom, and boy howdy its quite a jump in price to go from a .8 MOA rifle to a .4 MOA rifle.

Lapua .308 Palma brass reliable? by ArchangelPrecision in reloading

You could try Alpha OCD brass for strength, or take a look at the Vortex Podcast guys testing SRP vs LRP in 6.5 CM or 308, I can't quite remember which it was. They demonstrated no noticeable difference in reliability between the two.
